Emax 2205 2300kv red bottom with 20a esc?
#1
Hey Guys,

Just a quick question.  For my next build I'm planning to use the emax racing motors.  Here's some data:

The part I'm confused about is the amount of current the esc can handle.  I know I saw on a thread I think in this forum that had tests pushing higher amps than the esc is rated for.  If it's drawing close to 30a at 100% throttle, should I get 30a esc?  I won't be running 100% all the time, just in bursts.  I'm assuming for the most part it'll be between 60-80%.

Cheers.

Good ESCs are rated for bursts at a higher amperage. For example LittleBees 20A should be fine bursting to 30A for up to 10 second. Ripping at full throttle 30A for more than 10 seconds and you have to call Nasa to register a new object in orbit Smile At that point with all 4 motors screaming total current is 120A, better check on your LiPo and PDB.

Are you running 6045 prop with this motor? if so then 30A probably safer... but if just 5045 prop should be fine with LB 20A Smile i

I think 5045BN is ok, 6045BN will ok if you don't burst
