I purchased an x220 as a first quad. I am having difficulty setting up the receiver to Ibus in betaflight for a flyky i6x. I did not update firmware on FC as I understood these came with a fairly recent version of betaflight already. Both the quad and remote come with sketchy instructions. Messed around for a few hours, and could use some support. I am new to this forum, and this is my first post. All of my previous RC experience is with 1/10 4wd electric trucks.

First off. Welcome to the forums! I too come from 1/10 scale ground RC's and have even set them up FPV

I personally have not used FlySky but double check the following:
  Go to "ports" tab > select "Serial Rx" on the UART you are using for iBus > save & reboot before leaving.
  Next go to "Configurations" tab > scroll down to "Receiver" and select "serial-based receiver" from the drop down menu of "Receiver Mode" > Then, select "iBus" from the drop-down menu of "Serial Receiver Provider" > save & reboot before leaving.
