Eachine VR007 PRO V1.2 Goggles - how to add DVR
#1
Photo
Hello,
This entire guide is for V1.2 of the goggles.
MT_630A_43D_RP007PRO_V1.2

I purchased a pair of Eachine VR007PRO goggles and I also purchased a HappyModel DVR so I can record and view my footage.

https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-VR-007-...ds=myorder

https://www.amazon.com/Crazepony-Digital-Recorder-Quadcopter-Multirotor/dp/B019F2JW20/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1529134762&sr=8-2&keywords=hmdvr

I was expecting this to be the same board as every other VR007PRO headset. But it is not. It is an upgraded board with a 38 channel diversity receiver. All of the trace layouts are different. I was able to modify my headset to function with the DVR and would like to share this with you.

The best discovery about these goggles was the 38 channel diversity receiver. It has a secondary antenna location but only one antenna included. This is going to save me 49.99 as I will no longer need a fatshark module. Just a patch antenna.

This is very straight forward. Please let me know if you have any trouble.

Important Parts:
You do not need to pop off your RTX interference shield. Its only clip on this time but can stay on.
The goal is to get the dvr in between the screen and the receiver.
The power pad is using a nice 22UH 0.7A inductor. It honestly looks like the pad they were going to put a connector for their official accessory(https://us.banggood.com/Wholesale-Wareho...mds=search).
I included a switch to use the original video signal. It is much cleaner. The switch allows me to toggle the DVR's video out for field playback.

Steps:
Take apart the HMD and hope for a V1.2 board. They are completly different and easy to tell apart.
Carefully disconnect the lvds ZIF connector for the screen from the bottom of the board
There is a ~1 inch trace from the 2nd pin of the RTX. You want to cut this trace near the pin 2. Please look at the photos.
Once you cut the trace scrap a section of solder mask off after the cut on the ZIF side. We'll call this the BYPASS
Solder a wire from the BYPASS to the center pin on the 2 position switch. I highly reccomend routing this near the RTX shield and using hotglu to prevent board damage.
Solder a wire from the RTX pin 2(VIDEO_OUT) to the left leg of the the 2 position switch
Solder the DVR VIDEO_IN wire to the same leg you soldered the persistent VIDEO_OUT source too. This is the most important wire besides power. Its the video signal independent of switch location. Your DVR will NOT record if you miss this.
Solder the DVR VIDEO_OUT wire to the right leg on the 2 position switch.

You should now be able to apply power to the head set and the DVR will boot up(~2 seconds) and display on the screen depending on switch position.

Side note: My VTX does not transmit audio. But this RTX does support audio. You can solder the DVR AUDIO_IN to the 3rd pin on the RTX to record audio. To play the audio you will need to connect your own 3.5mm headphone jack. The center pin on the jack should go to pin 3 and the ground should be soldered to the 6th pin. Please refer to the pin layout. Dont forget to also connect the DVR AUDIO_OUT to the center ping of the headphone jack so you can hear your replays.

Thank you for your time.

I attached all of the images but they are not displaying for me, so here is a gallery as well.

Hello I bought the same google with the intention to add a fatshark module because of a youtube video, however the board looks different and it turned out to be the same board as you have right here, could you please do me a big favor and teach me how to wire up the receiver onto the board? I have zero knowledge about probing for video signal. In the video the gentleman removed two components from the onboard receiver and made it obsolete because the signal from that receiver was interfering. Big thanks please help

Thanks i used this procedure on mine, with an Eachine DVR Pro, and it works.  But now my switch is in the way of the screen when i tried to put it back together... i need a smaller switch.

With the Diversity Antenna's....i notice there is the pad like on your photo, but there's what looks like missing SMD Capacitor (or Inductor)?  So i guess i can't simply solder another antenna socket to that without that additional component to complete the circuit - do you know?

Note: i bought my headset in October 2019 and it says board v1.2. like yours.

I did this same thing and saw an improvment in image quality but once I added an actual diversity reciever(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N5R...UTF8&psc=1) to my goggles it was much better.

Heres the guide you will need

Nice, thankyou! I'll check the costings/effort and see if it's worth doing this or the proper Diversity mod. Did you do a howto for the proper Diversity RX mod?
BTW; I did the audio mod for DVR as well (but my quad doesn't transmit audio so i can't test it - i just get white noise - hope that's normal and not due to any faulty wiring).
Note the link to the video is not working in that post.
