I'm planning to purchase this video transmitter (TX526). I have looked into many transmitters and decided that this is probably the best for me. I'm planning to run it on a 250mm frame quadcopter which has not been built yet (therefore, antenna connector does not matter as I'll be buying one anyway to replace stock) with a small heat sink and Deepcool thermal paste I have around. If anyone has any tips or anything to point out that I may not have found in item descriptions and video reviews when looking at video transmitters, I'd love to know about them!

I am also planning to get the Eachine EV800 goggles (also on Banggood but this eBay deal is in my country and cheaper, and only lacks a video in cable and bag) to use with this TX526 VTX and any others I get in the future. Is there anything else to consider, or will these work together as I'm expecting?

Finally, I am planning to use this gear with my full Runcam (already have one) to save money on buying a camera when the Runcam already comes with a video out cable (two wires for 5-17v power in, a yellow wire for video out and a white wire for audio out). From looking at videos connecting other cameras (like Runcam's small FPV cameras), it looks like I should be able to easily connect my full Runcam. It weighs 35 grams without the battery so it won't be ideal, but should give me great video until I want a lighter camera for proper racing.

I'm open to other suggestions, but these components seem like good choices to get for a budget flyer's first build.

I've got the EV800 goggles and no complaints whatsoever. I've got 4 or 5 five different VTXs and have never had a problem connecting to any of them. The only thing I've done is changed the cheap antenna to a decent RHCP cloverleaf

I think you should consider buying an fpv camera. Lag on all HD cameras is way bigger than even slower cctv ones. While you won't notice that at the beginning, it will impart your learning process.

Thanks! I went ahead and purchased the TX526 transmitter and will probably get the EV800s unless anyone gives me reason to do otherwise.

Ah yeah, thanks for that information. I will use my full HD camera just for testing it out but won't do any proper learning on it - will try and get a cheap camera for less than $30. I'll just use the Runcam in open spaces where it won't affect me and I won't get used to it too much!

I have the EV800 goggles. Be extremely gentle with the buttons. They are not secured to the main board and I have had the power and search buttons fall off.

I'd send them back for an exchange, that's not typical

I have sent them multiple emails. Very little response, but the holidays might be throwing them off. I'll keep you all posted. It is indeed not typical. All of the reviews were very high, and the quality (short of the buttons falling off) is very nice.

Hello i have just received tx526 vtx but i don't know the function of the second ground cable. The first two are for input Voltage,third is video in,the 4th is audio in and the last one is a ground. What is for?is it meant to have a common ground for the camera???

Thank you!! So i have to solder the camera positive to 12v on pdb and negative wire from the "extra" negative wire coming out form vtx??

The positive to your PDB, plus one of the ground wires. Twist the other ground with the video wire and connect that to your camera or OSD.

Or, just cut off the extra ground wire and don't worry about it!

Quite often, if you are using an OSD that's integrated into your flight controller, it helps with interference problems if both the input from the camera and the output to the VTX are both grounded at the flight controller.

Or, you could use it connect the audio input to ground. If you don't actually have a microphone, it's best to ground any audio input on your VTX rather than leave it floating as this tends to cause any recording of the flight to have an audio track filled with random noise.

I have both googles and video transmitter and have had good luck with both. The only thing is be very careful with the antennae mount on the TX526 I have broken two clean off the board. One in a crash and one over tightening the antennae.

Make sure you use zip ties and mount the VTX in several places especially mounting the connector to the frame so that the stress point in a crash is not between the antennae plug and the vtx board.
