Order spare props. The kit includes 2 extra motors but only few propellers. Any decent crash makes the propeller fit loose, flying off just by throttle-up afterwards.

Hi all,
i was until now LOS quad pilot, but i see as inevitable to learn FPV, so, during winter i would like to accomodate to FPV with indoor training. For this purpoese i bought QX90. The problem is, that the quad is drifting quite a lot. I am able to compensate while in LOS, but as soon, as i try to pilot with FPV gear on, i am lost, bumping furniture etc.
Please, the expirienced pilots amongst you, did you somehow adjusted the FC? (anotehr firmware, another PID tuning etc.?) Any help would be appreciated.
BTW, i designed prop guard which also holds the battery, if someone is interested, i will upload it to thingiverse.

Regiss, when doing FPV are you doing Acro or Horizon mode? (i.e. does the quad self level?)

I found that FPV was more difficult with my micro even in Acro mode because you have less room for error, but Acro mode should at least solve your drifting problem.

Hello James,

the quad autolevels. I flew it until now in default setting from Eachine (the only thing i did was calibration of the sensors and i added small deadband for yaw).
Therefore, i asked, what changes to default config you did, guys. My intention was at least to learn to start and hover with FPV gear, then slowly move from one side of the to room to other and back etc. But atm, i am unable to do that.

If you fly FPV indoor, i would recommend eliminating drifting first in LOS. It's going to be tough flying in your living room if your quad drifts no matter how good you are Smile

it should be pretty easy to fix if, first set it to fly in Acro mode, trim your TX sticks to remove any drifts..
After that you can now enter angle mode, if you have any drift it's probably your ACC. First calibrate it on a level surface, trim you ACC if it drifts... look up the stick command for ACC trimming...

Thanks a lot, Oscar. From my utterly ignorance, i wasnt aware of those stick commands, it worked like charm, many thanks, i hovered in FPV like for 2 minutes, wow.
As a sidequestion, this FC has no magnetometer, so i guess, it takes the yaw stabilisation from the ACC. Is there any other way to get rid of yaw drift other than with TX trimm, please? 
It is nothing significant preventing me from flight, but neither is it  perfect

Yaw drift normally is caused by:
1. yaw stick isn't centered or value jumping around too much
2. hardware issue, props/motor damaged?

can you check in receiver tab in Cleanflight to make sure value is centered at 1500 first, if jumps around too much (more than +/- 4), you can add some Yaw deadband.
if RX signal is good but still drifts, you can try replacing the props, or even the motors..

Oscar, thanks for the advice. The cleanflight is checked and i also introduced a tiny deadband, so this is not the issue. I guess, this is caused by props or motors, but the yaw is really very small so to change motors is overkill. I will take the small drift as a training factor Big Grin

if it comes to that, try to add some yaw stick trim on the TX Smile remember to do the trimming in Acro mode though Smile

Ok, i did many test today and this is very interesting. I am able to trimm the copter in Acro mode so, it is "stable" but as soon, as i switch to angle mode, no chance at all, the copter drifts heavyily away. And vice versa, i am able to to trimm the copter into stability in Angle mode, but as soon, as i switch to Acro, it drifts like hell.
Horizon mode is terrible.
This is interesting, as i use Horizon on my T4 mini quadcopter with Naze32 10DOF for LOS flights and its the best flight mode for it.

Anyway, i am now learn basics of FPV (at least in Angle mode). I can not imagine how you can handle this copter in Acro inside a house, tough.

If you see drifts when you switch to Level mode - most likely accelerometer is not level. I've noticed the accelerometer gets out of whack after few crashes - perhaps small movements of the board or changes of COG - not sure. I generally compensate with radio trim until it becomes too severe and then recalibrate in Cleanflight.

Acro in the house is definitely possible, and fun Smile but you pick up a speed and the crashes are a lot more destructive. I'm on my third VTX and second set of motors Smile

Apologies if this has been covered but this is the first time on a forum.
Loving the FPV and managing to get some good info.
just got myself the tiny QX90 and trying to fly using my Turnigy 9x with stock firm ware.
Using the FRSKY DJT that binds easily. Just having problems with setting the thing up for mode 2 flying.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Please help the old farts enjoy this awesome hobby too.

You are on the right place for such questions my friend! 
So if I understand you correctly, you have a mode 2 transmitter, but the quad is responding like it was some other mode? 
If you go to the receiver tab in cleanflight and play around with the mapping, I'm sure you will figure it out. If i remember correctly, the Frsky is different than what is default for cleanflight. instead of writing TAER1234, you can try ATER1234 or some other combination. I can't remember what it should be, but I had to change it for a friend of mine with a kiss FC running betaflight and Frsky receiver. After you have changed the mapping and saved, you can try to move your sticks and see if the right bar (yaw, pitch etc) is moving in the transmitter page.

I was out flying the other day in Okpo, South Korea, and it was too crowded for mini quad, so I fired up my qx90! Video will come later. The qx90 is an awesome quad!
