Eachine Goggles Two, ProDVR mod w/ OSD switch for no added latency
#1
First off, this mod is credited to Jason Cole and Zandoli from RCGroups. Thanks guys!

I wanted to take it a step further and post a sort of summary or all-in-one post here and possibly save someone a bit of reading and offer some easy to follow pics and a simple wiring diagram.

If you do damage the foam body Banggood has replacements Wink  Also dont forget to remove the antenna locknuts Wink I used an old credit card to help separate the foam and expose the goodies inside. Once inside I unplugged the receiver from the LCD panel leaving the pigtail/wires attached to the Rx.
First wire from the right is your audio, the second wire from the right is video (out from Rx, in to LCD) 5v and ground are found on the rectangular pads near the top of the pcb.
We only use 5 wires from the DVR. 5v, Ground, Vin, Vout, and Audio (optional). Supplying power should be self explanatory Wink Next splice your Audio(in) to the Audio coming from the Rx (first wire from right) Now is a good time to decide where you would like your switch. After that, split the video(out) coming from Rx and connect one to the video(in) of the DVR, the other to one pole of your switch (this will be your "OSD OFF" postion) Next we connect the center pole of the switch (now our Vout) to the video(in) wire going to the LCD panel. Last is to connect the Vout from the DVR to the last pole of the switch (this will be your "OSD ON" position)
Insulate everything, add some hotglue to the power wires on the pcb, and start fitting things back in place.
I filled the cavity behind the switch with hotglue to keep it secured. Feed wires through the shell to fit your needs, mine will be hidden behind the DVR unit so I made a small hole in the center front of the top shell. Vent holes can be used if you do not want to make a new one Wink then prep shell haves with contact cement, let dry per directions, and clamp it up to set/cure.

Plug in the DVR and add some good double sided tape to the back. Position to your liking and pat yourself on the back! Job well done Wink

With the switch OFF enjoy your flight without adding latency and still record.
Turn switch to ON for setup or changing settings and for instant playback to help find a lost quad ect. Wink

Here is the RCgroups link to where I gathered my info. Thanks again guys, works great!

Hi,

Just in case anyone is still looking at this.

Firstly, I'd like to say thank you for taking the time to put this up and explain the mod. It's all really useful and I'm looking forward to getting it working!

I've set up the wiring as shown and am having an issue with a constantly flickering image when in the OSD mode. No problem with the record mode.

Any ideas on what might be causing this and how to fix it?

Cheers, Tom

I am no electrician, but could it be in the switch that you used maybe? Or a solder point?

I haven't had this issue luckily. My OSD and replays are both clear.

I have exactly the same problem with my Eachine pro DVR and this mod, the DVR still records with perfect clarity but I can't see the OSD to change any recording options. Its possible that this is a hardware problem..?

What version boards do you guys have?

I have read about v1.6 having some issues with firmware I think. I have v1.4 with factory FW.

Hey DroneOfPrey and Tom BD Bad,

Thanks for coming back so quickly.

I've checked continuity on the switch and it's working well so I'm confident it's not an issue. Checked the solder points and they all look well connected so don't think that's an issue.

Also tried a different wiring (https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost...stcount=49) directly to the AV in of the goggles and have the same issue. The flickering is so bad I get about 6-8 ghost images on the screen making it unusable unfortunately.

The board version is one of the newer ones I think as it doesn't say 1.4 or 1.6 on the board. It does say lm-C20170808.

Might have to move to another DVR recorder as one of the main reasons for buying this was reviewing footage in the field.

Thanks again guys, Tom

Hey guys,

I've fixed mine. Really simple issue that I didn't even think about.

The goggles need to be in NTSC as that's what the DVR apparently outputs. My setup is with the DVR Vout connected to the goggles AVin (the jack connector on the plastic bit where the HDMI connector is also located). I can now see the OSD so all good.

Haven't tested recording and playback as I've run out of time but will update when I have.

Tom, hope this fixes yours too!

Cheers, Tom

EDIT: One other thing I did was update the firmware using the how-to on this video: You can get the most recent firmware directly from banggood: https://www.banggood.com/Mini-DVR-Video-...otproducts That's the one I used.

Update: It does record. All working. I've switched the output of the DVR to PAL, turned it off and on again and now everything I'm using is in PAL.

Using the AV in method you can swap between the direct feed from the receiver and the feed from the DVR with the OSD on.

Hope this is useful to anyone else who comes across this thread looking to do the same mod and a big thanks to everyone who's worked on these mods!

Cheers, Tom
