Just saw Eachine is going to release a new FPV Goggle, EV100, for under $100. http://www.eachine.com/Eachine-2017-NEW-...p-996.html It's in a compact form factor and has a very slick design, kind of looks similar to the Fatshark dominator According to rumour it will be released in late august. From the pictures on their website, it looks like - there will be three colors
- have built in diversity 5.8GHz receiver
- external battery and possibly a fan on the top side of the goggles
Is this going to be the Fatshark killer? Update (07 Aug 2017): The goggles is now available at Banggood (no affiliated): https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-EV100-720540-5_8G-72CH-FPV-Goggles-With-Dual-Antennas-Fan-7_4V-1000mAh-Battery-p-1182469.html Spec - Resolution : 720*540
- FOV : 28° diagonal
- IPD : 58-64mm
- Built-in 72 channels diversity receiver (probably just antenna diversity, not RX diversity)
- Focal length adjusting: under 400 degree of myopia
- Support AV IN/OUT
- Support Focal Length/Brightness/Contrast Adjustment
- Battery : 2S 7.4V 1000mAh
- Charging : USB Cable(not included)
- Built-in Fan to prevent lens fogging

I've got prescription ones for my FS Base - can't use this type of goggle without them. • Posts: 1,773 Threads: 30 Likes Received: 1,199 in 755 posts Likes Given: 714 Joined: Oct 2016 Reputation: 45 (05-Aug-2017, 01:44 PM)sloscotty Wrote: I hope they include the option to use FS-style diopters. Still using EV-800s and it's like strapping a compact car onto my noggin. My Goggles 2 have the same sort of feeling. Its funny, I wouldn't be seen dead driving a nissan micra, but I feel uber cool with one strapped to my face! I agree with Zeronest, I have always thought that those tiny low res screens shouldn't cost as much as they do when they are fitted inside an FPV headset. Any idea? My guess is probably just antenna diversity (using 1 receiver), just like other Eachine box goggles... can't expect RX diversity with this price point.. Just registered for these goggles. Be gentle I've been eyeing them all day and I'm tempted to pre-order, but there's a couple things that worry me. For starters: the diagonal FOV is stated as 28°. I've only ever used VR-D2 box-type goggles so far; how would a 28" diagonal angle compare to those? I've read people describing 30° FOV fatsharks as "like looking at a screen through a long tunnel", which doesn't sound too appealing - but again, I don't know the first thing about slimline goggles. Also: my VR-D2 do have actual receiver diversity, while these only have antenna diversity. From what I understand with receiver diversity the goggles' controller chooses which of the two streams to display, whereas with antenna diversity the receiver itself chooses which of the two antennas has the best reception and displays only that stream. But what's the difference in actual real-world performance? Is the breakup and range very different between the two methods, given the same set of antennas (say, a dipole and a cloverleaf)? You can describe the difference as watching a movie, where boxed goggles are the big screen in the cinema and slim goggles are a TV in your living room. While boxed goggles give you more immersion, the fatshark styled ones give you the ability to embrace whole picture at once without loosing focus while looking around for the details (like checking voltage on OSD etc.) For me, FS styled goggles have one big (obvious) advantage - the size of my ancient quanums makes it hard to pack, while you can just toss the "fatsharks" to your everyday bag/backpack and go flying if you have an opportunity. Edit Reason: edit to clarify ) To confirm, my 'Eachine Goggles Two' DO have 2 receivers inside, only 1 antenna, now that the mushroom fell out of my bag somewhere! Also re. the $99 price tag of the EV100, BG say they are 71% off, down from $350..! What actually usually happens is that when the flash sale, preorder or whatever ends the item is less "discounted", and that's what's it actually normally costs. It'd be absurd to sell these at $350, that's fatshark territory. |
