Recently received a micro 25mw camera from ArrisHobby.com to review.
The camera itself is a Eachine EF-01 with 40ch and 25mw power output.
You would think that being a cmos camera it would have difficulty with light transitions but for flying indoor or under good outdoor light conditions it's more than adequate! You do get the occasional black ground when flying outside with bad weather but it only lasts a moment.
The video quality is up to par with other good small cameras out there and I really like the extended lens that helps clear motors away from your picture.
Although the camera is a bit heavy with case (8g), de-casing (6g) is quite simple but you will need to do a bit of cutting if you want to use conventional mounts that you use with other small cameras.
No lag in the image and signal is pretty good indoors and outdoors at 200 meters (the most I've tested so far).
It's very resistant and has smashed into concrete at full throttle with ZERO consequences
The best is .. this is available in amazon!
If you are in the UK you can get it with free shipping within a few days instead of waiting for your transatlantic container to arrive
Pros:
- The camera lens is quite long and will help to clear the motors\props away from the picture.
- Quality is surprisingly good for a camera this tiny but still comparable to other good small cameras out there.
- No cables connected directly to the camera which means less to break or rip
- push button to change channel/band
Cons:
- The push button is at the bottom left of the camera which means you will have to get inventive on your mounts if you want to de-case the camera
- A bit heavy at 8g with a case (6g without)
- Even when you de-case the camera there are some awkward tabs left behind. You can cut them off but be extra gentle and super careful as there are some components nearby
