Everything is fine. Seems it was all just a bit of a misunderstanding...

(it's all depressing enough as it is for the hobby so may as well throw a bit of light-hearted humour into the mix)

LOL!

I read that link before the rest of your post and thought "Oh man, this guy must be an average America...". Well done!

**Average American refers to someone who reads at face value and does not consult any other links/article/common sense before coming to a conclusion

Pretty broad brush there fella....

Average non-American refers to someone who assumes these traits are unique and exclusive to Americans.

So, have any of you guys across the pond seen a video or picture of the offending craft? I've heard commercial drone mentioned on the news here. What exactly is that?

Any "local" updates at all?

I'm fairly convinced now that there is no "drone".

There's an "iffy" unverified video on the Daily Mail (aka Daily Trash) website purportedly showing a drone flying overhead but there is no context proving when or where it was filmed and a disclaimer underneath which states they believe it is the drone in question. So basically that could just be unrelated historic drone footage from anywhere.

Over 80 supposed sightings of the "drone", well over 100,000 passengers all with camera phones and half the world's press camped out there with video equipment and telephoto lenses but not a single credible photo or video anywhere??? Pull the other one.

Pawel speaks a lot of sense in his video below:-

The airport security services and police are now the laughing stock of the world.

If they are using the "drone" story as some kind of cover up for something else then they'd rather come up with something more credible fairly quickly otherwise the real terrorists will be rubbing their hands in glee at how easy it apparantly is to fly a drone into a UK airport without getting caught and with the security services being unable to neutalise the drone (for whatever reason ???).

I am kind of starting to agree. I have seen nothing to indicate any evidence towards it being anything more. Hell, I have seen better pictures of big foot that provided more detail.

Now, that being said, I would not be surprised at all if someone was stupid enough to do this, but with so many eyes involved I find it extremely difficult to believe there is no media out there. Maybe its a cover everyone is being told. Maybe its ALIENZZZZ[Image: url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=...5370257526]!![Image: url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=...5370257526][Image: NhOHmi3l.jpg]

It's a little early to draw conclusions yet.  If some former Sasquatch or Loch Ness monster photographer could get the "drone" captured on film, then all the powers to be there could remove it from the sky.

Don't be conspiracy theorists, it never goes well for those who take that line of thinking.....

If you are feeling that way, maybe one of these is in order.... Big Grin Big Grin

I'm with Giorgio, "It was Aliens "  Smile

It is really surprising that there is no credible evidence/photos in this day and age where everybody has a camera with them.

Nice! I'm curious as to what they were using exactly. I've seen a parrot modded to run on 3g before, but this thing sounds fairly large?

It's amazing how different news agencies twist the headline to get more clicks. So, "UK police charge two for the London Gatwick airport drone attack". Really? There are usually no actual charges until suspects have been interviewed for a reasonable period of time.

None of the UK news agencies (who you would expect to be a bit closer to the truth) are currently reporting "charges". Just arrests. The Daily Trash (if you believe them) are stating that a woman cyclist in a hi-vis vest was caught hurriedly packing away two drones. Hmmm Thinking

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...rport.html

Obvious questions...
  1. Why would anyone trying to conceal their whereabouts be wearing hi-vis clothes while actually packing away suspect equipment.
  2. The drones in question were supposedly commercial size drones. So these fit nicely onto a bicycle do they?
Call me sceptical but I'll believe it in the next 48 hours if/when I haven't seen the headline "released without charge" LOL

Where is the videos of the drone flying around the airport? Sorry, but "no video, it didn't happen". The one video of some blurry little black dot in the sky is anything but convincing. Everything about this smells eerily like rotting carp.

Snow, your skepticism is actually some fresh air instead of everyone lamenting "drones" because some officious folks spout some story. The longer this all goes on with nothing more than little snippets, the more skeptical I get. At the rate the story is unfolding, doubts simply mount.

It happens, the natural evolution of the man.... Big Grin

We may need Oscar to create a room here on the forum for the grumpy old men to hang out in... ROFL

With that said, there is lots of misinformation, and down right poor reporting.  If I didn't know better, I would have said it was American journalists doing the reporting.  We may never get the true story.  And one thing for sure it this hit our hobby very hard, even if in time we learn it never was drones.
