drone rolls on the bench
#1
Huh So very new with a very big drone bite... I am having trouble working out a rx-tx problem with flysky i6 and fs i6a - rx on a mini 130 with a naze32 fc. after 1 flight I wanted to get it out of acro mode until I gained a little more skill. I am using cleanflight, also tried baseflight and completely lost all use of the drone. Was unable to bind to the tx and finally ordered a fs i6b and set up in ppm mode, able to bind but no joy on the stick movement. I was finally able to flash the FC to latest ver of naze32 2.10 I believe ppm and I have stick movement but now my drone while on the bench will roll in the animation to the right. Not sure how that is happening, recalibrated but it just slowly starts tipping over. I read the forums and glean a lot of great information and now I have to much in to go back and I don't want to go back. New googles to try new props to use and a wife that just laughs at my frustration.

Help.

What are yours midpoint and endpoints under the receiver tab?
Endpoints should be 1000 - 2000 and midpoint 1500.

Confirm that in the 'ports' tab the UART that you are using for your RX doesn't have the slider for 'Serial RX' activated, Serial RX won't work with PPM.

Make sure that the receiver box in the 'Configuration' tab has PPM selected. Also at the top of the config tab, you should see 'channel map', for FlySky it is AETR 1234, if the wrong map is selected then you might have throttle assigned to the wrong stick.

Go into the modes tab and assign a (ideally 3 position) switch to select 'Angle' and 'Horizon' mode, Acro or Rate will be the default flight mode.

You can get runanway throttle issues when the quad is on the bench because the FC is attempting to correct the attitude of the craft, but as nothing is changing because it isn't in the air, the 'error' the FC is trying to correct gets worse and worse, so the FC tries harder and harder to correct with more and more throttle.

Welcome to the forum Gary, I hope this helps...

If the problem persists, you can take a screenshot of the 'Configuration' tab, the 'Ports' tab and the 'Modes' tab, these will help us to diagnose problems.

Hi! I haven't had this issue before, I have you set an RC deadband in Betaflight/Cleanflight? This basically ignores a set band (usually 1-5) of radio signals based on radio transmitter twitching and uncalibrated gimbals. In the worse case scenario, you might have a bad board, but it seems like this is unlikely. I agree with Tom BD Bad. Can you send a screenshot of your problem? It could really help diagnose your problem! Happy flying! Smile

Setting deadband will not prevent the animated model from moving. The animated model does not take deadband into account, so if your roll channel is at 1502, the animated model will slowly rotate clockwise around the roll axis.

As others have pointed out, arming the quad with props off and using the sticks will result in the motors spinning faster and faster as the flight controller wonders why it doesn't see any movement from the gyro to correspond with the corrections it is trying to make.

If your motors work when you test them in the motors tab, the motors spin in the right direction, the animated model in the setup tab moves in the correct directions when you pick up the quad and move it around and your receiver is recognised with the end and centre points set correctly then you are ready to put on the propellers, go outside and fly!

Thank you for the warm welcome, a lot of yes replys aeter1234, 1000-1500-2000, no serial rx, I was able to set a 3 position swc to angle/horizion acro i hope as default. After reading a few more posts the fc trying to make sense of no no movement kinda makes follows that idea. I guess it is prop time and a visit to the park if the rain will hold off. Thanks again. Oh yes my flicker is 1498-1500, roll 1495-1496 and it still slowly rolling right

Slow roll I do not worry about too much. I think all of my quad does something similar.

Personally, I think it's stupid that the animated craft on the receiver tab does not take the deadband settings into account. After all, the whole idea of having an animation on that tab is so that you can see if the craft does what's expected when you move the sticks.

Ok so I have put this thing together nice and clean, shrink wrap, zip ties and all. Took it outside to test the settings and right away it didn't behave right. I got it up in the air and all but when it landed it wouldn'd throttle down or disarm with TX throttle stop. After shutting off the transmitter props reved up and had to pull battery. Now 1 motor #2 just beeps and wont turn, I have gone over my settings and I am just not seeing my mistakes. this was a rtf unit that was hard to control so I wanted to change to a stable flight mode and out of acro for a little practice. Now the more I try the less I can use it, this really stinks. The bad thing it is a 130 and the battery sits right on the props almost no room to disconnect it. I could really use some wisdom.

Post your diff or screenshot of your own settings.

Sad
put in new esc  now the motor wont respond, if I unplug signal wire then plug back in motor ramps up.

when I unplug I get all the chirps you get on power up??

Again. We haven't seen how you wired everything. You didn't post any settings. Help yourself by providing some information. Otherwise this exercise is pointless.

Sorry voodoo, I am trying. I solved the last problem of motor beeping by following some post tips and swap esc. I will try and put a pic of my wire set tonight

this is how it is wired for now, very short on space. when I get the esc problem figured out I will neaten up the wires. I have my screen shots saved to a word file but not sure how to save it to this forum. I am not a blogger and this part is a real head scratcher, sorry I'm not more techy.
