Downsides of Raceflight and Revolt FC
#1
I have been hearing mixed review on RF and their official flight controllers, so what's the big complaint on Raceflight and revolt boards?

As a RF and Revolt user, I have no complaints. If you complain about beta builds, might as well go back to cleanflight imo. Us dedicated RF users are there to test and help the RF devs get a seamless finally build release. I personally love it and the revolt board layout is fantastic. Not sure why it took so long for a board to have a layout like this

I think its just that its a big LEARNING curve. Biggest mistake i did was not asking the RF team for help. I got help from them and next thing u know RF Revolt became the BEST FC i have ever flown.

I been running RF on Revos and now on Revolts for months. I left BF for RF for the lack of learning curve. 1. under stand the firmware is beta. 2. understand Slack is where all the magic is going on. 3. most of the time the defaults are rock solid. The most issues I see are end users not wanting to spend money on an F4 FC or ESC that are F39x or better, thus running MultiShot. Try to jump on the RF bandwagon on an F3 and you will have issues.

Yes the developers want to make a F3 FCs work but the real secrete sauce is in the combo of hardware and software. If you want to test the waters get a RTFQ Revo Acro and DYS XM20a ESCs. If you want the full on Race Flight Super Secret Sauce. Go with the Revolt or 3, a set of ESCs listed in the BLHeli/Multishot listing on GitHub that have Multishot firmware bins. Again my go to ESC is the DYS XM20a. Many others like the Little Bee 30a.

Other than that the Raceflight Configurator is a Chrome app similar to the BF and CF Chrome apps. Nothing to exotic there. Really just jump in head first you WONT regret it. Just be aware you will need to put a little time in learning the differences in RF and the other firmware and that is where slack will fill in the blanks in almost real time. RF on Slack is the first time I have had regular interaction/conversations with the principle devs of the software.

as sushi mentioned complains no...
just be aware it is still in beta - so shit might happen
get a decent board either the RF promoted or from partners like demon rc

what i don't like about RF - for few months now it is "final version will be shortly"

i'm flying on soul for some time, and it is most stable flying ive seen out of box so far.
All the best
