Regarding GoPro's new service plan. Do not get it. Get Best Buy's Geek Squad 1 year.
This is straight from GoPro:
"Damage your camera, mount or accessory by accident? You're covered with up to two camera replacements, each subject to a service fee. Does not cover lost cameras."
Service fee is as follows
"Claim Service Fee. In the event that We replace the Covered Equipment due to Accidental Damage from Handling, you will be charged a non-refundable claim service fee of $79 (“Claim Service Fee”)."
Geek Squad is the cost of the replacement plan which is $30-50 depending on what you are buying. Buy one year, if you want to extend it within that one year if you somehow don't break it you can, if you purchase the 2 years you get shafted if you break it in the first year out of the extra cost you paid. No service "fee" required.
