Do you have insurance for flying?

Just wondering if any of you have 3rd party insurance?

Also what are your reasons for having or not having insurance?

Not ME....'cause I'm a risk taker!! Big Grin   Ok...not really.  I do not fly in populated areas or around any property that is not covered by my home owners or car insurance.   Smile

I am a member of AMA (in USA), so I have insurance through them.  I wish there was another organization that provided coverage like theirs - more geared toward FPV flying/racing.  Unfortunately, AMA is the only game in town here.

I think this is an interesting topic, because I have thought about self insuring and just dumping the AMA. It would be nice to know about other options and costs.

We have a couple of options in the UK. The BMFA and FPVUK both offer insurance. I need to get some myself.
Current quad: ZMR 250 / DYS SE2205 / Littlebee 20A ESCs / Drone Lab 1500 4S / Naze32 Rev5 / BF 2.7.1
FPV: Runcam Skyplus / Aomway 200mw VTX / Fatshark DomV1

I dont have insurance for walking, breathing, frisbee throwing, sex, asteroid collision, fast food eating, passenger on airplane, tv watching, internet connection, postage, kidnap or drone insurance. If I HAD insurance for everything I do in LIFE, I could not AFFORD to live a LIFE .
If something did happen , I bet there will be many technicalities for the insurance company to NOT pay. NOT paying is how insurance companies make a profit, and they make allot of profit.

I've watched several of your videos and I agree. That brings up a question, though:  How many quads have you lost out there in the bush? (And how hard was it to find them when you were learning and still crashing a lot?  Big Grin ) [maybe this deserves it's own topic...]

Honest to god..I have not lost a single quad where I fly, thanks to my dvr recordings and buzzer I have always been able to find them, I have however had one quad fly away (from inside my backyard doing a mini test flight) never to be seen again, and it was not a DJI, it was a QAV250 with a open pilot Revo FC, I lifted off and it rocketted into the sky like a scud missile and vanished, no control from the radio, no failsafe worked (even though I always check FS before I fly).  I lost the whole quad plus a runcam ..was not happy.

Well that's good (not losing any but the one).  However, you better go find some wood to knock on... Wink

I don't know much about insurance, and haven't looked into what it covers... but most of my friends including myself are using this one:
http://www.fpvuk.org/ ( £5 million public liability insurance, £15 a year, in the UK)

I was told I have to buy it because I wouldn't be able to attend some meet ups and fly without it...
