***DO NOT BUY*** ToolkitRC M4Q 4 Port Charger
#16
Huh. I never even thought to check the firmware on mine. I've also been using one of these for a couple years. To be fair, it is the replacement for the first one I received. That one only lasted 1 charge cycle before shorting internally and letting all the magic smoke out. Someday I may get something nicer but for now this serves my needs... The balance plugs do suck. Right pitch, but not the same connector at all. You're basically just lining up the pins.

Since this thread has been revived, for info, I have just received a Q6AC 4 port.  23/11/2023.

Takes a lot for me to be impressed, but I am. (so far!!)

Have always worked on the basis that if an operating system/GUI is any good, it should be intuitive enough that its fully usable from the get go without manual or any stumbles or confusion as to "what to do next".  No which control next, no hidden double or short/long presses, etc.

The other extreme so far has been a Graupner Ultra Duo Plus Charger No 6444 I inherited.  That was/is the most unhelpful difficult to use oversized overweight product I have ever come across, and from its sticker was "reduced" from £282.99 to £254.99 !!!!!!!!! How on this earth can a designer make a product SO bad that the output sockets location means the banana plugs and leads obscure the monitor displays, AND get in the way of the controls, just for a start?   Angry

And it boasts a single near feel less rotary and press control for both outputs that is near impossible to use without risky error. (and WHY only one anyway??)

So, why have I still got it?   I still have not come across someone I dislike enough to give it to................   Dodgy  and anyway, something has to be a door stop on the model room............ Wink

This ToolkitRC Q6AC charger however seems to have all that in hand (so far).

I'll start a thread specifically on it if there's any interest?

Had a toolkit RC P200 desk power supply (not cheap but nice and compact) Blew up for no reason after a few months of hardly any use. Thought it was me although after opening it up i saw thre was not even a fuse to protect the unit against overcurrent or spikes etc, bought a new one (as still thought it was me) , blew up same way on a 10% load of rated max driving a single quad motor to test.
Now a big ali express lab supply rock solid zero problems and much cheaper (also much bigger unfortunately). So i think they sell crap. My 2c

It's interesting you say that because Mads Tech had exactly the same thing happen to him and in the process it also fried the item it was powering at the time (I think it was a DJI Air Unit IIRC). I don't personally own any ToolkitRC products and I don't want to slate them off unfairly, but I've read numerous reports of their gear failing. Maybe their QC has got better now but they unfortunately already tarnished their reputation so personally I would be cautious about buying any of their gear, but that's just me. Their products do look really nice from the outside, but if what is inside is a pile of crap (i.e. a polished turd) then that's not good for anyone. Pay your money and take your chances.

I have got 2 pieces of M4Q, M6D, M6DAC, M4Pocket, and I use them a lot, especially M4Q, which I've had for 2 years now. I also have several chargers from other manufacturers, mainly ISDT (a pair of Q8 and a pair of Q6) and even a Revolectrix. As for the accuracy of charging, measuring voltages and currents, the ToolkitRC charger is quite good, it is necessary to calibrate them, otherwise, mainly due to inaccurate current measurement, they show meaningless capacity values both during charging and discharging. And there are also differences between the individual Toolkit RC chargers, both the Pocket version and the MD version have problems in the balancing mode, there are inaccurate measurements and value fluctuations, so the balancing process is unnecessarily prolonged, the measurement is simply unstable. The M6DAC works significantly better, there are no instabilities, the M4Q works similarly well.

Total POS
Luckily the connected equipement did not blow. Only (in one of the 2 cases) my automatic mains fuse on the house circuit  (so extra bad ).
