I'm shopping for my first goggles and everyones seems to go mad over diversity, how important is it? I ask because I've got an offer to buy some attitude V3's for $175USD. and I'm trying to decide if I should spring the extra 100 bucks and get some commander V1's because they have Diversity. What do you guys think? Do I really need diversity as a beginner who's only flying one quad by himself? Okay thanks! I think if I go for the commanders I'll have a goggle that will grow with me instead of holding me back. One thing I couldnt find online though, does the Attitude V3 have hdmi? Because I'd love to havea goggle I can hook up to my sim and practice with. • Posts: 6,106 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,283 in 1,830 posts Likes Given: 4,733 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 24-Jul-2019, 04:39 AM (This post was last modified: 24-Jul-2019, 04:41 AM by hugnosed_bat.) i dont know it, but i thougt the same, until i try it the first time, for me the display on my notebook is fareway better than the goggle to play sim. now it wouldnt have importance for me. probably not hdmi, but the most goggles has a videoin. • Posts: 12,099 Threads: 125 Likes Received: 3,739 in 2,836 posts Likes Given: 99 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 388 Goggles that allows you to grow is one that let's you upgrade the receiver module. Consider an Attitude V5. • Posts: 1,013 Threads: 11 Likes Received: 452 in 349 posts Likes Given: 372 Joined: Dec 2017 Reputation: 16 The Attitude V3's have a module bay, so if you feel the need to upgrade to diversity you can later. • Posts: 22 Threads: 6 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 1 Joined: Jul 2019 Reputation: 0 (24-Jul-2019, 07:33 AM)Sugs Wrote: The Attitude V3's have a module bay, so if you feel the need to upgrade to diversity you can later. Yeah i took that into consideration. What's the chances of a beginner needing diversity though, like does diversity only come into play when you're far away? or behind rocks/walls? • Posts: 1,312 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 832 in 504 posts Likes Given: 372 Joined: Jul 2018 Reputation: 51 I never fly more than about 150m, and I still find diversity handy. Diversity is probably most useful around trees. Those big water-filled oxygenators are a bugger for blocking RF, and the ability to put a directional antenna alongside an omni means that you get better signal penetration if you point the directional antenna at an obstacles you may be flying behind. If you're flying close in an open field then you won't see any benefits, but put a couple of trees between you and your quad and it starts to pay dividends. The ground is for dead people. • Posts: 545 Threads: 28 Likes Received: 135 in 101 posts Likes Given: 94 Joined: Oct 2018 Reputation: 6 Behind any obstacle diversity already comes into play, even flying behind yourself it comes into play! It's the simple fact of having two different antennas and always getting the best of the combo and almost never the bad. • Posts: 22 Threads: 6 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 1 Joined: Jul 2019 Reputation: 0 Thanks guys! that settles that for me then. Diversity it is! is the diversity on the commander v1's good? or is it worth getting the attitude v3's and pick up a seperate receiver? • Posts: 760 Threads: 66 Likes Received: 352 in 254 posts Likes Given: 490 Joined: May 2019 Reputation: 12 I had and am still having the same dilemma. I ended up getting a pair of cheap but good goggles until I figured out what I wanted and always had in the back of my mind it can always be a spare or for another person to watch me fly when I get the proper ones. Reviews on these are good. https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-EV800D-...ehouse=USA What I have finally figured is how I now want to see things when flying. For me this means a large FOV and 16.9 aspect ratio and it must be able to take a 2.4gHz receiver. Now all I need is a point in time where I can justify the cost and would also have to have tried a pair first. • Posts: 6,106 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,283 in 1,830 posts Likes Given: 4,733 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 because i had such bad experience with my first diversity module, i told a single one should be fine aswell. the question bother me and i will try my trued module with a single antenna as a single vrx, to have a side by side comparison x-D • |
