Yeah something went really bad from the beginning. The product seems polished though. If the release is happening on the first week of March we will finally see the performance of this combo. Nevertherless DJI already shaked FPV niche.

I am afraid that this drone will be marketed as an entry to FPV for those flying a mavic. then we will have a bunch of idiots flying recklessly and give us a bad reputation.

^^^^^ This.

What DJI have brought to the market is unfortunately a double-edged sword. They have given us great things with their digital video transmission systems but with it comes the aftermath of them encroaching and on and invading our hobby space in the name of making a big fat profit. In doing that they will bring a load of idiots with them who will end up causing more bad publicity for the hobby, and it's not only those idiots with their autonomous FPV Drones that will suffer, but also us as the pure hobbyists. All of the bad press you see in the tabloids all comes from camera drone pilots. I don't recall ever having seen anything specifically related to FPV drones. Mark my words that the release of this new product by DJI will inevitably mean tighter regulations going forward for all of us. I often wonder if I made the right decision by giving that despicable company some of my money.

So who on here is planning on buying one?

EDIT: I previously quoted the wrong post. Now corrected.

I can't see ORQA releasing something until the end of the year TBH, but I really do hope that they come out with a viable alternative that is on par with DJI. I would happily ditch my DJI gear and get the ORQA goggles with whatever digital solution they come out with.

That will be inevitable at this point. You already see that happening with the mavics and minis. From the unboxing it seems that this drone is a mix of mavics with all that sensors and training wheels and a proper racing drone. This is even worse because if it was a pure acro quad then all of those newcomers would kiss the quad goodbye in the first crash. I assume that maintenance and spare parts will be expensive. Maybe the idiots like you said we be rapidly filtered out, I hope.

Newcomers are always welcome, but fpv should always have a proper introduction...

It's quite a weighty quad with an AUW of 789 grams and it definitely doesn't look like it's DIY fixable. DJI don't sell separate components to the public anyway so every crash would mean logging a repair ticket and then waiting maybe a month for the repairs to be done before you get your quad back. The repair service is where DJI will make a shed load of extra money. Plus you only get a single battery and I would bet that the batteries are close to $100 each. This is where DJI also make a bucket load of extra money.

I'm hoping that the not diy fixable aspect will cut some of the guys that had 1k extra in their pocket.

All the hype about it flying for 20 mins is only at 40kph with no wind and no fluctuations on the throttle LOL. This proves that it's really is just a cinematic drone in FPV guise rather than a proper FPV drone. Oh, and it's actually 795 grams, not 789 grams as previously stated by the guy that published the video.

Yeah it seems beefy. Not a racer by all means.

Hmmm. Re-watch the video from time position 08:07 and notice that when he screws in the gimbal sticks that the throttle stick is centre sprung. That suggests the DJI FPV Drone uses the throttle stick for height elevation like the DJI camera drones do and not for throttle management. If that's the case then the pitch and roll sticks likely control the angle/throttle of the quad like they do on the DJI camera drones. That would be just weird when flying a drone flown by FPV.

For that type of flying one shouldn't need low latency and some basic goggles connected like a smartphone are enough. Maybe they are covering both audiences. I guess you will be able to fly full manual or it doesn't make any sense.
