DIY LC Filter question
#1
Hello,

I have a made DIY LC Filter to see if it can improve the FPV video.
Before connecting to quad, I would like some one to review it.

My quad runs on Tattu 3s 3300mah 35C
FPV gear consists of Eachine vtx03, caddx turbo eos2 camera. vtx is powered 5V from PDB and camera is powered directly from vtx.

I made the LC filter using below,
16v 1200uF capacitor
ferrite core inductor (from old PC mother board)
26AWG wire to wrap the ferrite core inductor

Just to test, I tried connecting the LC filter to 12v AC to DC power supply and mulitmeter read 12V at the output end.

Now I would like to connect it to quad, can some one please review if the wiring is good?
I was planning to connect the capacitor end to lipo and ferrite ring end to quad. (or is it other way)?

Output input seem to be wrong way round. it's an LC filter, so current should go through L first then C.

Simply putting the LC filter in between LIPO and quad is not enough?
Do I have plug it in between VTX and its power source?
I am powering my VTX using 5v from PDB. So should the filter be placed in between that 5V and VTX?

No, you should put it between VTX and its power source.
You can't use it between battery and the quad, the current would be too large for it to handle.

Thank you. I will try it out.

I installed the lc filter and tested out.
Also noted that, when quad is stationary there may not be any grains in video and you will not notice any difference in video with or without lc filter.
It is when flying grains started coming up and installing LC filter cleared the grains.

good job!
it seems like your DIY filter works even slightly better better than the built-in filter? Smile
