This is my take on a tripod ground station, can use with a small monitor or without.
I got the idea to use a plastic box to hold all the core bits from UAVFutures on youtube:
Been thinking of how to put a ground station together for a while and that seems like the simplest solution as you can avoid any worries about cable management or shortening cables using this method.
This is my take on that with easy to get parts from hobbyking/surveilzone/ebay etc.
Things you'll need:
The dvr has a remote so by default i have it set to not record on power up so it's dormant unless I turn it on.
As well the monitor can sit in my bag if no one around to view takes no time to pull it out and get it plugged in.
Will expand with more 'how to' put it together more later if there is interest/need

Things you'll need:
- Tripod - HobbyKing Tripod (most tripods with a quick release will do fine)
- Tripod Screw to flash hot shoe adapter mount - From ebay
- Plastic box - Similar to this *see note about the box below
- Receiver - I'm using a FR632 40ch Diversity receiver http://www.surveilzone.com/
- 3s Lipo - I went with a multistar 3s 5200mah 10c from hobbyking
- Male to Male RCA cable can find these everywhere
- Monitor
- DVR
- 2x RCA Splitter - Male RCA Phono to 2 Female splitter
- 4x Single RCA Phono Coupler
- Push button or Toggle on/off switch
