0 Usually google is your friend but I have really searched for a good DIY charger without any luck....
So far no success but it seems a bit odd that no one built one when basically everything else in universe is available in many different versions and designs.
Maybe based on an Arduino or a Raspberry Pi?
Is there anyone who has any tips on a cool charger with all the features and bells and whistles?
I myself hasn't the skills do something like that from the ground up but it would be fun to have something to tweak and experiment with.
I'm shure you know the feeling....

786 Probably the reason that no-one on here already tried to build a DIY charger is because it is still a lot of work and a LiPo charger is something you want to be working 100% that you can trust and which has been tried and tested so that you don't end up burning your house down due to some design flaw in the hardware or a bug in the firmware which overcharges cells, or something else equally dangerous.
So people tend to just buy reputable off-the-shelf LiPo chargers that "just work" and which have verified feedback from other users as being a trusted product.
I'm sure some information does probably exist if you dig deep enough into some of the EE forums, but from my own perspective it's not something I've ever really thought about or considered.

11 22-Oct-2021, 10:19 PM (This post was last modified: 22-Oct-2021, 10:21 PM by GiantAntCowboy.) I'm all about DIY stuff, but since a lot of LiPo fires are related to charging issues it's probably worth just buying a decent charger. You should be able to find a nice computerized charger for around $50.
Fireproof charging bags and storage boxes are smart additions too... I never really cared much about these things until I eventually read one too many stories/saw enough pictures of the destruction.
If money is tight, search your local classified ads, there's always people getting out of the RC hobby and you can often find a nice deal. All just my opinion, cheers!
p.s. SnowLeopard beat me to it... but we share the exact same points it seems. lol

0 No, money is not the reason for this. I'm just curious and interested and like DIY projects.
Safety is definitely something to keep in mind and not take lightly.
And I have lots of other DIY projects to have fun with so there is no panic that there does not seem to be anything regarding Lipo charging... ...but i still think it's a little strange...

31 24-Oct-2021, 05:22 AM (This post was last modified: 24-Oct-2021, 05:22 AM by brettbrandon.) I have to agree with the above statements. Improper charging of a liPo can be very dangerous. In that case, I don't find it strange that there aren't DIY projects for such. If someone used their instructions to build such a beast, and using it burned the house down, who wants to be held responsible for that?
I am a huge DIY fan, but would never consider that as a project.
