Ditching the AIO ESC Board
#1
I think that based on my luck, (crap) skills, and inability to disarm before a crash has me really reconsidering going back to a PDB and single ESC setup for my builds that can fit it.

So far, I have crashed my Armattan Mongoose twice now and fried the MOSFETs on 2 separate ESC boards.  (But hey, the props are still in pristine shape!)

My Rooster?  4 separate ESCs, plenty of devastating crashes and the worst I see are props that look like a staircase.   Its a real PITA to have to disassemble the entire stack to get to the ESC board to start testing and then ultimately desolder and replace.

Either that or I just need to bite the bullet and not always buy the 'cheapest' stuff out there.  Poop

Not buying the cheapest thing out there is definitely a good place to start… but it sounds like with your skill set that maybe yeah, individual easily and cheaply replaceable esc’s might be the way to go. Wink
Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

LOL Im getting to the point of where I have so many 'spare' parts, I might start getting into replacing the MOSFETs on my toasted boards with some working ones off of another.

Just to see if I can :p

I’ve got a old mamba f4 stack that has been trough hell and back.. toasted FCs ,, had vtxs come apart after crashes..-and mangled cameras beyond repair.. but that 4into1 esc.. granted it’s blhelis.. only 20-30a rating.. it has take. PUNISHMENT!!
It’s a matter of finding a component that survives.. buy a bunch.. (hide them)..before the manufacture stops making them.
I have seen components release “magic smoke” from a single blade of grass and others get run over by cars and come back for more!

I feel with you. I just toasted my ESCs as well with a tiny crash... props were all in good shape.
