What would be the difference between the Emax MT2204 2300kv and the RS2204 2300kv?
Am I right to say these RS2205 have a higher motor bell, and therefore can supply more Thrust?

Big difference between the MT2204 and RS2205 in terms of power.

The RS2205 uses stronger magnet, and therefore has more flux that results in more torque but not necessarily more thrust. Many fliers are obsessed with thrust but forego torque and the props ability to quickly accelerate or decelerate.

The RS2205 is probably the best right now for thrust on a 2205 motor. Also the build quality has been stepped up on the RS2205 over the older MT2204. They also have a MT2205 baby brother to the RS2205 and they are also excellent.

I tried out the mt2205 on my ZMR and just installed the RS2205 to compare with. The mt2205 performs even better than the RotorGeeks or Cobras I previously had on them. I just tried some basic hover and vertical thrust tests with the rs2205 and there is a slight increase in thrust from the MT series. Very impressed with Emax's latest work. I hated there older motors but these 2 models are both equally impressive. The rs2205 does drain the battery q bit quicker due to the increased thrust/amp draw.

Both of these motors weigh just under 30 grams compared to rg and cobra 27g.

bench tests show quite a difference but its not super noticeable in the air. I was only running 5045bn so maybe it'd be different with 6045 triblades

yeah there is a difference between static thrust testing and dynamic flight... Static thrust testing it good to be able to baseline on performance, but in the end dynamic flight test is the true determination. Unfortunately you can't test dynamic on a bench and measure it properly.

I don't really think the emax rs2205 are hyped. There have been positive reports on build and reliability, and substantial thrust test results better than almost all competition at an affordable price. If they were hyped, the reports and thrust tests would be exaggerated. I haven't seen that. Perhaps a more accurate word is 'popular', as a lot of people are buying them for these reasons.

Don't get me wrong guys,... I am not a sold out, and I had a good run with my Cobra's...for many people these were the Go-To motors for a long time. I just feel they're not keeping up with other manufacturers in respect to innovation. And a bit more quality control couldn't hurt either.
