Diatone SP3 VTX - NTSC output
#1
Greetings,

I have a Diatone GT2 200 (2016) PNF quad that came with the SP3 48ch VTX and the Sony 650 line camera.  The system defaults to PAL output, I would like to switch it to NTSC to align with my other quads.  Documentation says it supports either.

I downloaded the MWOSD GUI ver 1.6 to confugure the VTX, but changing Pal to NTSC had no impact to the board's output.  I rigged and configured the Sony camera through its OSD menu.  Again, there is nothing to set transmission type output here.

Question - Has anyone configured this VTX to transmit in NTSC?  What am I missing?

Note: Calls to Diatone for help are useless - they don't know.

Thanks,
Doug

Are you sure the camera is formatted to NTSC?

Hello REnov8r, I've been all over the camera set-up OSD. I do not see a way to set PAL / NTSB. Is it the camera that determines the transmission format?

Thanks,
Doug

Yes, the camera determines it. Many have a switch on the back to change from one to the other. However, the Sony HS1177 from Banggood does not. (If you order the camera alone, you have to select an option.) I think that Banggood typically ships the type that is most common in the region where the order originated - In your case NTSC for USA. But they may have bungled it this time.

On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with using PAL (especially if you have an HD cam for recording footage). It actually has some advantages when using an OSD. See Oscar's article on a comparison here: https://oscarliang.com/pal-ntsc-fpv-quadcopter/

If you are really set on wanting NTSC, I would contact Banggood (assuming that's where you got your Crusader) and see if they will admit the mistake and swap it out for you.

For most FPV cameras on the market right now, it's not possible to change PAL/NTSC in the camera, they are what they are shipped with.
The only FPV camera that I know can change P/N is the Eagle.

Thanks for the responses - this makes sense. Guess I'll be using the PAL format for my Crusader.
