The first part is the dual blade props that are on there... They in general sound more whiney to me when I use them on any of my quads... they're also a little more noisy. The other part, although it's a little more subtle, is there is some sort of vibration/gurgling sound that comes from the quad during punchouts. In this video you only hear it a couple of times but it's in there. It doesn't seem to come across on the camera but I am pretty sure it's this little nagging bit of tuning issue that I still have to deal with. So far pretty much anything I do with the tune doesn't seem to affect it. When I try some of the methods I learned from the stingerswarm/kevin tutorial on tuning it's clear that I am short of a proper tune but I think because I haven't literally started from the beginning and gone through the whole process I'm not getting a clean result yet. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 1,504 Threads: 83 Likes Received: 944 in 654 posts Likes Given: 2,142 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 24 (06-Jun-2017, 10:06 AM)Carl.Vegas Wrote: there is some sort of vibration/gurgling sound that comes from the quad during punchouts. I hear an additional 'growl' on the punches, I remember one clip talking about 'D' tuning for 'warbling' which that punch growl sounds like to me, but I have literally 0 experience so don't take my word for it! TBH I do hear something else all through though, just more pronounced and with a slight difference on the punches..? Maybe its just the propwash on the mic of the 'low' camera, maybe I'm imagining things and I should just shut up now! I think it's probably OK but yeah the tune will probably help the noise on the punchouts I hope. I worried at first that maybe a prop was hitting the FPV antenna... The antenna is awkwardly placed with just millimeters between it and where the props spin... TBH... as I think about it... there are quite a few things about this quad that just bug me... I am still amazed that this thing that I was so eager to get has been such a "dang it I don't like that either!" experience. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 1,590 Threads: 89 Likes Received: 1,283 in 768 posts Likes Given: 1,274 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 31 Latest update... So after this week putting more sim time in than I have in a while it turned out that I had built up a lot of extra control... not something that helps me when throwing the quad around like a crazy person the way that I do the bumblebee, but instead more help for if I wanted to perhaps... oh I don't know... go through gates or something? So... I was having action cam issues this morning at the RC park while trying to record my "Pop It!" video... (more to come on that)... So while I waited for the camera to charge up I put some batteries through the diatone... interestingly enough a low-to-the-ground, precision style flying suits it!... In fact... I was able to complete not only my first full lap on our multiGP UTT1 style course... but also a second... third... and even fourth... (not all back to back though)... It seems if I want to try my hand at racing this is probably the better quad to do it with. I have ordered a new lens that matches my other cameras which should help... Then I might give some of my experimental rates a try next week. Also I've switched to Dal 5045 tri blade props which have smoothed out the weird sound almost completely and I don't fly the runcam on top anymore (since I don't like props in frame anyway). So as predicted, I am getting used to it I hope the lens really helps on the camera cause that part still drives me nuts. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 12,099 Threads: 125 Likes Received: 3,738 in 2,835 posts Likes Given: 99 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 388 18-Jun-2017, 06:34 AM (This post was last modified: 18-Jun-2017, 07:13 AM by voodoo614.) Just read your review. I have this quad. I didn't buy the RTF but bought the frame. I have BFF3, the diatone sp2 stacked vtx (I wish there are more stack vtx available), emax rs2205 motor, little bees 30a, and a run am swift 2. I was recycling parts because I crashed and broke my emax x5 frame. To compare, I have the same parts on both frame. The emax frame, being an X tower, it feels more snappy. The diatone is more low profile. it does not feel as snappy. I would not describe it as floaty, but more smooth with the transition. The diatone does basically go where you want it to and does it smoothly. I have a feeling it is the height profile for the flight characteristics. I enjoy flying it. It is different from my geprc rx5, Tokio X, and Chameleon. But they all fly differently, enjoy it for what it is. I think you're dead on... and really this probably explains why I had both experiences... "floaty" and "smooth with transition"... Not feeling snappy is a much better description now that I've flown it some more. I think I'll go back and edit the OP to reflect that somewhat. What I didn't expect was for that to cause it to be more precise and "go where [I] want it to". This is a big benefit and a little more acceptable now than even a week ago because I just now started considering having different flight characteristics for different types of flights. The low profile has a HUGE impact on it... I am sure you're right on that one. The thing I cant argue with, and neither of my other quads have done this yet.... Is I spent extensive practice time on gates yesterday and didn't have a single gate-crash. I put at least 6 or 7 batteries into purely flying the gates or flying the path of them with this thing. so while I am still a little disappointed in a couple of aspects of the quad I am absolutely MUCH happier with it. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 2,286 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,527 in 995 posts Likes Given: 1,881 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 72 It's cool watching your impressions of this craft change as your skills and experience grow! I just got a new runcam lens in the mail that I am going to install that should help me feel more comfortable with the video. We'll see how it goes this weekend! carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 |
