Deciding on PDB style for a QAV210 clone build.
#1
I am building my first quad. It a Realacc 210 v2, Qav210 clone.

I was wondering which style of pdb works better. I have both styles. A xt60 direct connected x style or a h style matek 5 into 1. I looked at some builds, the x style looks better cablewize. I am just worried about the connector breaking off in a crash. I haven't flown a quad before, so it going to take a beating. I was looking for the insight into the subject. Thanks.

I used to run connector on the PDB on many of my builds for months with the Birdseye miniPDB, which is thick and very though. Crashes never affected the PDB but the connectors used to take the hit. From torn plastic, to bent or broken prongs, I kept patching what I could, suffering loose or unreliable connectors and re-soldering. Re-soldering is difficult because of the heat required simultaneously on both prongs. Several times I killed the on-board polulu with excess heat.

I've since started soldering a short cable 2cm or so between the connector and the PDB. It is much easier to repair and much more crash resistant.

I vote for using wire as well. I tried direct soldering XT60 connector on PDB also but I got a ripped pad after a few crashes.. even though I though the connector is well protected.

Thanks for the responses. Just to clarify, Get a xt60 pigtail and cut it down to about a inch long and solder that to the xt60 style pdb. Then it can flex or be replaced.
