Darwinfpv Hulk - Camera Fog
#1
TL;DR - Waterproof enclosure for DJI 03 Air Unit fogging up.

Howdy! I have a Darwinfpv Hulk(waterproof). Fun little guy, but I have yet to dunk it in water, despite living near a lake.

The aluminum enclosure housing the camera has a piece of glass that keeps fogging up. 5-8mins of flying and I then have to sit on my hands until it unfogs.

I have tried: cleaning the glass, applying rainx, and stuffing it with paper towels. My last ditch effort was applying conformal coating to the inside of the glass where the fog forms. It just reappeared right under the coating. Lol. I'm dumb.

Wonder if anybody has any advice for this. I'm about to take the danged glass out. Smile

I use Cat Crap on my glasses, it’s the only thing that will keep them from fogging up when I’m wearing a mask:

Other than that, you could try stuffing a small silica gel packet in there to suck up any excess moisture? I probably wouldn’t recommend that though, it’d really suck if it moved in front of your cam mid flight.
Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

It's been a decade since the last time I played paintball but we used to use an anti fogging spray for the inside of the goggles when the humidity was high.

Found a quick solution for when waterproof isn't needed... and yes, the zip ties held. Lol.

Read some people use dish soap or bar soap for anti-fog. Smeared some bar soap on the enclosure glass and it kinda worked! Unfortunately I think it needs to be reapplied every day or so. It just gets so danged hot in there. I also found my stash of silica packets, so I'm going to do both and see what happens!

The spray we used during paintball sometimes needed to be reapplied every new match, not even good enough for multiple games.

Irish Spring bar soap and a silica packet are getting me through 5 packs. Good enough for now. Smile

I also wanted to drop this link to YT from DarwinFPV -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UqsbTcY3qk

Their solution is to glue the camera(just lens bit) to the front of the enclosure. Keeps that air behind the glass from mixing with the hot air from the VTX.

Haven't tried it yet.
