I've hit a significant milestone in my practice in liftoff (it turns out there really is a turning point in having control!) and now have 2 quads on order (china is too slow... I needed to get something to supplement the toy)... I decided to go with a Vortex: the UmmaGawd version. As a noob of course I am required to be obsessed with rotor riot videos and as a liftoff player I must be completely sold on immersionRC products... (yes I am brainwashed, but I recognized that it happened and I am enough of an old fogey to not care)... The thing is, while it ships with props everything I see that no one sticks with the 4 blade purple people eaters... So question: Anybody use Dalprops... are they as durable as the reviews suggest or have I just ran into websites that are fluffing the reviews? carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 52 Threads: 11 Likes Received: 21 in 11 posts Likes Given: 1 Joined: Dec 2016 Reputation: 3 I run the dal props cyclones and they are ridiculously durable. I have about 15 packs through a set right now with my wife running another 6 through them, and she crashes like crazy, and they are still solid no occillations through them. Really nice and light weight as well. I find props with a lot of angle work best on 2300kv and 2blade 5045 props works best on 2600kv setup. Posts: 947 Threads: 66 Likes Received: 350 in 248 posts Likes Given: 164 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 34 You can expect to fly several days with the same set of cyclones. Even if you get some dents in them, they are still balanced and I can't see any jello on my HD video. I have broken a total of three props to almost unflyable after I started using them. Two broke in the hub and one lost half it's blade, but all of them could still fly home. This was after hitting branches in high speed and still being able to fly home. So if to go for them, you should by two sets. That should keep you going untill the summer, haha. From my experience, the 5045 cyclones draws about 70-80amps on brotherhobby returner 2206 2300kv and about 65amps on racerstar 2205 2300kv. They feel a bit sluggish and slow on racerstar 2205 2600kv, so I guess those motors doesn't have the proper torque to run the props well. I would assume that a high end 2600kv motors with stronger magnets would run them much better than the racerstars, but as noted by trojanGoat, at a higher amp consumption Posts: 1,590 Threads: 89 Likes Received: 1,283 in 768 posts Likes Given: 1,274 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 31 Great, so it sounds like I stumbled on the right prop and that I should specifically go with the Cyclone. I am going to start with 5045s on the Lumenier 2206 2300kv then I'll dig into the info once I have a better feel for if I want to change anything. Thanks for the advice! Your 3 answers led me to the path of research where I've learned a ton just in a matter of 15 min or so. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 3 Threads: 0 Likes Received: 2 in 1 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Mar 2017 Reputation: 0 I like very much the cyclones. Just found another looking real nice. Will order tomorrow. https://www.masterairscrew.com/collectio...t-x4-black Hope they will do a three blade version soon. I got a set of 5045s (3 blade) in the mail before they could sort out some irresponsible bank error... It's one thing to be eager to get flying... but it's an entirely different feeling when you have LiPos, a FrSky radio and reciever, some good props, the proper goggles, an OK vrx... and nothing to connect any of it TO!!!!!!!!!!!... I'll give them until maybe Tuesday and then I'll share the horror if they still don't ship... carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 52 Threads: 11 Likes Received: 21 in 11 posts Likes Given: 1 Joined: Dec 2016 Reputation: 3 I feel your pain Carl, I went through the same thing with my first quad. Literally took a month to receive it, due to some back order snafu, but I was chomping at the bit! Soon you will have your quads and then it will feel like not enough time to fly them. I could deal with it... now I am like "sure I crash in sims but I need to know how they are different if I am going to keep practicing on this computer" and my patience is out the window... No worries I'll get there soon enough... supposedly they have my money finally! carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • |
