Cutting out

I've noticed the more I fly that I will have great signal in an area then I can fly back to that area and starting getting interference.  Is this just the nature of 5.8?

Rain or fog will affect FPV signals, but I can't imagine you were flying in the rain. A storm front can also cause problems due to the large static charge.

If weather can be ruled out as a factor then maybe there are some microwave communications towers in the area? Depending on what they are, they may not be transmitting at all times.

how far out are you talking about? and what gear are you using (VTX/VRX/Antenna)?
Also note if you are flying close to buildings the chances are there could be interference from wifi

I'm guessing WIFI if it can do that. I'm using ReadyMadeRC cricket 200mw with eachine EV800. I was may 50 yards away in life of sight. I was flying down my street houses on both sides.

There are some frequencies for WiFi that use the 5.8GHz band, but the highest frequency these channels use is 5.835GHz.

So, you might like to try using some of the FPV channels which are higher than that and see if it makes things better.

and use CP (circularly polarized) antenna I think that might also help? Smile

I was once flying with a broken vtx... i had good signal when flying away from where i stand, but as soon as i turned the quad around and the carbon top plate came in between vtx and my goggles, it lost connection. Only then i realized the signal wasn't transmitted by the antenna anymore, but only by the vtx itself lol Big Grin

Another thing to keep in mind is signal reflections off of plain walls that can "confuse" the normal signal. Sometimes it can make a difference even if you only move a few meters from where you stand.

For sure, I've got TBS triumphs going.
