Custom Micro 80mm and FC-ESC conncetions HELP!!
#1
Hi Guys,

I’m quite new on this hobby but I' think I'm starting to understand how it works and what is needed.
I want to underline that I already build a 210 which is flying wonderful without any problem…

My main problem at the moment is to understand if I’m completely wrong or if all the micro (20x20 and 16x16) FC and ESC I bought from BG are faulty or a kind of.

This is the story:

1)            I’m trying to build a micro 80mm and I bought the Eachine F3 Minicube tower which is in the Lizard95. First assembly and connecting the battery 1 channel (motor 3) of the 4in1 ESC immediately burned out fuking up also 1 Racerstart 1103B Motor… the other 3 channels and motors are still working I did not made any mistake in the soldering I think.… I checked it and the 3 soldering points of the wires where not shorted

2)            I bought a second Racerstar 4in1 ESC 18A Black… I know they all are nearly faulty that’s why BG discontinued it but I got it really for nothing…  I Made a veeeery short flight to test and after 10 sec  1 channel of the ESC (motor 1) died. Switched motors and all the 4 motors where good but the channel 1 of the ESC not.

3)            I bought 2X Racerstart 10A 2in1 16x16 and mixed my stack with the 20x20 FC from the Lizard. At the beginning was all good I could move the 4 motors in Betaflight without any issue. The problem was I could not access the 4 ESC with BLHELI and I had to use the BLHELI Chrome app. There I could only see 2 ESC instead of 4…. Mystery …. The motors where all moving in Betaflight and I decided to go on. The point was I soldered all the 4 Motors straight forward and did not invert 2 and 3. I thought to do this in BLHELI but I could only see 2 ESC. I tried anyway to invert motor2 in the BLHELI app thinking that it was maybe seeing the 2 2in1 and inverting the second I could invert togheter motors 2 and 3 connected to it. Clearly a mistake....
As soon as I inverted ESC2 and saved…. A third ESC appeared in the app window!!!! MIRACLE !!! Now I have 3 ESC…. … May thought was clearly wrong… and MAGIC only 3 motors are moving…. This is the end of this.

4)            Now to understand if I_ completely stupid and thinking that the FC from the Minicube could maybe be also faulty I bought a new FC: https://www.banggood.com/Teeny1S_F4-16x1...ds=myorder
Is not available anymore now. But it’s a 16X16 F4. What I did?? In Betaflight all good than I disconnected the motor plug with the 4 wires from the Minicube FC and connected directly to the new F4 FC (the wiring diagram si comletely the same between the 2 FC), the wiring is completely the same as before when I could see 3 ESC.
With this new FC (and ESC powered) I can connect with BLHELI and BLHELI app with the port but the Sw says that it could not read the setup of the ESC…. No way….. Then I only tried to connect a brand new 4in1 20x20 ESC (not wired to the motors but if powered it should work anyway isn’t it???)  to the new FC and I got the same message…. Is this new FC faulty too?? I’m completely idiot?? Do I need an exorcist for my house?

I really have no clue…. Really frustrating …..

PLEASE HELP ME TO UDERSTAND!

Many thanks to everybody!

How you powering all??

FC you described is runs on 1S and ESC need MIN 2S .

And should be 6 wires not 4. 4 is for motor signals 2 for VCC GND.

Some pictures would help

I tried 2 different ways, for the test withou success for testing should be ok:
1) USB connector from PC for FC and 2S batters to the ESC
2) USB connector from PC with additional 1S battery to his VCC for FC and 2S batters to the ESC

both solutions did not work.....

VCC and ground are not mandatory if powered in another way.... I suppose... Am I wrong?

Thanks to all, I found the the mistake and you was right Darozas. With two different grounds it does not work and the ground must be exactly from the same LIPO.
I will go on as soon as my new ESC is coming(I got a defective racerstar). Unfortunately the shipping time from BG and GB at the moment is a horror.... waiting since 1 month... WTF

by the way many thanks Darozas. I saw your 90mm build and it is preatty similar to mine. Very curious to test mine!! Smile
