Crazy idea: Running one battery on each ESC/motor
#1
I have a pretty new idea and wondering what you guys think about it.

What if we ran 4 individual 400mah 4s batteries, one for each ESC and motor... so a total of 1600mah.
In that case could we pull more amps and have less voltage sag?

Not really, each motor would still try and draw the same amount of current. So unless you are running one small battery which is sagging and limiting the current, then you wont see a increase in power.

However, if you are talking that you are wanting to run more batts to get more power, ie your batteries are sagging and limiting the amount of current, then you may see a benefit in using more than one pack.

But still the overall discharge rate is still the same (C rating x total capacity) so I don't really see the benefit in doing this.

Motors at a certain throttle level run at different RPM depends on the voltage.
The batteries are not connected together, and they are going to be at different voltages during flight. That's only going to give the PID controller a harder time to try to stabilize the craft...
Not a good idea!

If it was feasible, someone would have done it already

Also, smaller battery capacity will also give you less max current... i don't think you would win anything out of it, except maybe having shorter wires... but then again, more connectors. Wink
