COVID19 3D Print in Azores
#1
Hey there folks!

I've been a bit absent from the forum the past days and I'm really sorry about that.

Much as happened in the past few days, we've got the number of COVID19 cases slowly increasing in the archipelago and just today we got our first non-imported infection with the virus.
Things are about to change around here.

There is a new founded group on Facebook of local people with 3D printers that joined efforts to help our medical staff with 3D printed protections.
We're estimating a production of 130 pieces a day and already got some "orders". Local hospitals, senior cares and pharmacies.
I'm feeling pretty good to be a part of this and using what I considered a hobby for me to do good for others.

Bellow I show the model we are using.

Also it's great to see that even if the group just had one online meeting and some contacts with the exterior we already secured some donations, being that in PLA and and business offered us 40000 sheets of acrylic paper for us to use on the "masks".
That is huge considering we live in such small islands.

Well done. I saw Joel's video yesterday about about the same and thought it was a great idea.

That's a great job!! Congrats.
In Spain we are printing the same type of protections, the 3d printers community are being organiced by local groups on telegram where are sharing the files and organising the logistics to deliver the to hospitals, etc....
In my local group there are now around 500 units made. And are lots of local groups. In Spain
I'm my case, I've started yesterday printing. Cause I'm still working I can only make 3 or 4 a day

Are you guys using PETG or some sort of antibacterial / microbial plastic? Or has PLA been considered fine.

I know in these dire times, even a scarf is better than nothing but wanted to get some sense of where people are at right now. I only have PLA and TPU is my problem.

I heard petg is the best for it, I might do some test prints.
