Cost of 4S 850mah packs
#1
Why do 4S 850mah packs basically cost the same as 4S 1300mah packs ? They have 35% less energy. Why only a couple dollars, if even, difference ?

It's probably just down to supply and demand. More people are likely buying the larger capacity ones so they can produce more in bulk to get the manufacturing and retail costs down.

Timing, I’ve recently found 1300 4s 100c lipos for $14 and a year or so 650 4s lipos 3 for $20…. Normally they are easily twice as much…
As a matter or fact I believe someone had 6s 1300 “flying pizza” lipos for $20 each… granted they may not be the greatest lipos out there.. in my case, I will destroy them in crashes WAY before their performance will fall off or fail…

My timing is bad then. Even 650s cost about the same. I scored some deals on 600s and 1300s in the past too. They must be out of season right now Wink

Go to ALL the fpv / RC suppliers.. put your email on their “specials” list.. once in a while.. u may score something reasonable..
NOTE: keep tabs on what the “free shipping” amount is.. that’s why I have a bunch.. the shipping would have killed the “deal”..
I think the 4 and 6s deals were from GetFPV just 2 weeks ago..

Most of my 850mah 4s batteries have been bought during CNHL’s 2-hour blowout sales (they usually have multiple days of sales around every major holiday). I’ve picked them up for as low as $0.99 each, and as high as I think $7.99 each.

That’s significantly lower than most 1300mah to 1500mah 4s (with the exception of the 5x CNHL Black 1500mah 4s I have that I picked up during another of their 2-hour sales).

If they’re anything like the rest of their batteries, the CNHL Speedy Pizza batteries are probably quite good quality.

I mean yeah, I’m comparing sale prices, but, they have sales so often that I figure that’s fair. Smile

Why does an Audi fetch more money than a Skoda, when they are based on the same platform, have the same engine, and the Skoda is model for model better equipped?

Big Grin

You could play the same game with Volkswagen, SEAT, all pretty much the same product.

There's a world of difference in the price of batteries, too, and on the face of it they look the same. Dig deeper though, and its clearer. A few years back there was in the UK a big sale make of battery.  They looked great. They sold well.

Under the flash shrink wrap and the fancy label though they were wrapped in normal buff colour masking tape, and the soldering was atrocious.  You could not trust their capacity nor discharge claims, and they rapidly went high impedance.

Users eventually realised they were being ripped off.  Sales fell.

The company changed their name, altered their visual identity, RAISED their prices, and all of a sudden they are the pack to have from Internet verbage/hype.

Pricing has NO relationship to what is being offered or the true value of what you get.

Example, two 1100mAh 4S from the same maker.  One is much larger, and surprise surprise has a larger discharge rating. Its not ACTUALLY an 1100 at all, its a lower discharge 1300/1350 with a higher discharge 1100 label. Of COURSE it will offer better discharge, its got greater capacity!  (They are the same proportions, dimension and weight)

Now the punch line...............   The 1300 "1100" is more money than the 1300, as after all, its a "premium" high discharge product............. Yea, Right!

Buyer beware..........................

Right, but, as you said, just because you got a deal on something doesn’t automatically mean it’s lower quality.

…wtf is a Skoda? Big Grin

Mr. Skoda was my world history teacher in high school  Tongue

Last Christmas/New Year I got a bunch of Ovonic 4S 1300s for 9.99 each.  An equivalent 850 sale should put them at 6.49 each, ya right …

I think it’s because they are one of the most popular sizes for sub 250 3-4” quads.Top selling items are less likely to get marked down.

4S 850 xt30 95C Tatuu can be hard to find once the spring supply sells out. They fit very nicely on 3-4” frames.

I have tried many different mah rates in the 100 gram or less 4S lipo with xt30 and so far nothing has matched the flight time and power of Tatuu 4S 850 95C.

I want to try Dogcom 4S 850 150C xt30.I’ve heard Dogcom makes good cells but they are more expensive than Tatuu.
I need some new 4S 850 for they are getting puffy and not as powerful as they were 2-3 years ago so I may try one Dogcom 4S 850 150C.

Please let us know what you think of the Dogcom batteries if you get them. I haven’t tried them yet, they seem pretty new to the “scene”.

I have a few of each tatuu and Dogcom on the way so I’ll find out if it’s all just typical influencer hype.
Tatuu packs so far have been the best in power, time and durability.
