Connex ProSight HD FPV System For Mini Quad
#1
Just heard Connex is releasing a new FPV system we have been waiting a long time for: HD (high definition), low latency (they claim "zero latency" but i think that's just marketing), and allow more people to fly at the same time.

Traditional 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz we have been using for FPV have been great because of the cheap price and small size, however they suffer from limitation on the number of pilots that can fly at the same time, too many VTX powered on the same time can cause video interference. Latency is low but definitely should be improved. Another thing is the video quality is not really that good compared to the recording cameras we normally use.

The new Connex HD FPV system provides pretty decent video quality for real time FPV, I would say comparable to the Mobius footage. It will also allow many more pilots to fly at the same time. Price is not confirmed yet.

Release date is 10th May 2016.

Features:
  • Solid digital link
  • Fly simultaneously with up to twice as many pilots as analog FPV
  • Record on-board HD without the need of a secondary camera like a GoPro
  • Low latency 60fps video and transmission (near 0, under 1ms)
  • Some other features not revealed yet until release

found this presentation by Connex, talking about their HD FPV system for general drones... not sure if that's what they are pushing out for mini quad racing as well.

I came across that same system earlier Sloscotty, that one is aimed at high end arial video I believe.

This new one is apparently aimed at fpv mini quads for racing etc.

As to what the system entails remains to be seen. Camera, vtx and vrx at a bare minimum I would assume but potentially goggles as well... all adds up to a hefty expense!

Chinese clones by the end of the year?

Update from Connex:

Quote:Talking to FPV pilots about cameras made us understand that we require a more complete solution.

This is why the new Connex HDFPV system is equipped with our own digital 720P HD camera that will be a part of the system.

Some info from Connex Youtube channel regarding weight of the system:

Quote:Getting the HD link is just the first step, one of the key factors was to keep it small. at 45gr. fo the Tx+ HD camera we were able to keep the size to the minimum.
SD system weights half of that, but considering we no longer need additional HD cam, it looks acceptable.

EDIT: ah, I see this info also on their FB page, so You all probably seen it earlier ;p
Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car
