Connecting FlySky FS-IA6 to Flip32?
#1
I'm helping some high schoolers build quads for their Physics class.  We've got them past the soldering work and now I need to get their TX/RX bound and hooked up to the Flight Controller.
I only have previous experience with PPM, but this RX will only do PWM.  It came with no cables, and the breakout cables I have only have 2 rows of holes/wires, but both the FC and the RX have 3 rows of pins.  Help?  Do I need full servo cables with 3 holes/wires or can I use the 2-hole breakout cable and skip one of the rows of pins somewhere?

For each channel you only need the signal wire. Apart from this you also need to connect one ground and one +5V wire.

So a single 3-hole connector and the rest need JUST signal?

That sounds more familiar.

Simply - yes Smile

All ground pinholes are common, so plugging one wire between RX and FC effectively grounds all signal and 5V pins. Also you need only one 5V connection to power the RX from FC (or whatever source you choose if they share the same ground). You can disassemble those black connectors by lifting the plastic tab and pulling the wire - heatshrink the metal part an voila, you have 1-pin connectors.

Just want to give a big thanks to KonradS! Got to work with the kids again yesterday and thanks to your explanation everything went smooth. They are now ready to fly after a few months of waiting for me to find time to make it to their afternoon class and showing them how to build these things.

Always happy to help! Also - you're doing great job at introducing RC to your class. Keep it up!
