Cobra 2206 2100kv v.s. RS2205 2300kv
#1
Hey Guys,

While I don't really have a scientific explanation for this topic, I thought I'd share my thoughts anyway.  I usually fly around the same area.  For the longest time I had trouble figuring out why it was harder to fly the 6 inch frame.  I think I finally realized why.. It's just a lot more powerful than the 5 inch.

After I got used to the control,  I just started pushing it more and it just feels like the 6inch Cobra 2206 set up is a lot faster than my 5inch RS2205 2300kv setup (even with tri/quad 5045)

Am I crazy or does anyone else think that these Cobra Racing motors kick ass?

Here's a flight from the RS2205 5inch dys quadblade 5040

Nice lipo alarm on 5" Wink

But to the subject, and putting configuration differences aside:
- you are comparing two different setups:
  • one that is designed for pure power on 5", here driving a relatively inefficient quad blade prop, they are said to be performing better in rapid turns but loose top speed,
  • second designed to efficiently drive a very heavy prop.
- 6" quad seems to be tuned better and that translates to smoother flight (and the feeling of speed) and better performance overall
- the style of flight is different - you fly your 5" quad closer to the trees, go between branches, thread that little gap between two of them, while flying 6" you are using that available power more going further with some punchouts - that makes it harder to compare Smile

If you want to compare them, I'd either focus on tuning smaller quad or put a different prop on it like a gemfan 5045HBN or maybe 5045x3.

Last, but not least - you are probably right. Cobra motor kicks ass, but as said before - both setups will be hard to compare.

EDIT: I own neither a 6" quad nor am I using quad blades, so those are just my thoughts on the subject I have after watching hours of youtube and observing MI group reviews etc.
Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car

I agree to konrad.
With the DYS Quadblades you are loosing out on the speed but gaining much more agility! Two bladed props offer brute power compared to Quadblades Tongue

What esc's are you running with the cobra setup ? I might just use my cobra's instead of trying to sell em ? You think maybe 5050 tri blades rather than 6045 would give you a bit better handling without too much power loss ? Curious

I never tried 5050, I don't even know where to buy them.  The cobras are lower kv but got lots of torque.   Believe it or not my 6inch frame with cobras can fly with 1 blade broken prop!  I'm using dys xm30 esc.

So if I guess depending on how technical the track is... it's better to use triblade over 2 blade huh?

Thanks guys!

If in a open field where there aren't trees or any kind of obstacles, 2 bladed prop is enough! You will get RAW power. Triblades is great for freestyle and racing also! It provides slightly less power but you get improved response and locked-in feeling!
