CJMCU motors cutting out
#1
I have a CJMCU that I've put together. Standard 7mm motors, ladybird props etc.  The problem I'm getting is that after a few seconds hovering, or if I punch the throttle over 60% ish the motors cut out.  I don't think the issue is with the battery as I can use the same battery with my QX95 (8.5mm motors) without issue.

I can only think that either the issue is with the FETS on the board or with my cleanflight settings.  The CJMCU board is new so I believe the issues with the FETS have been resolved now.

Any ideas?  Anyone else had this issue?

what's your motor_pwm_rate?
and do all the motors cut out the same time? (hold the micro quad in your hand so you can see clearly - careful don't hurt yourself)

JBFUK: From the description you provided it might be the case that you are experience brownouts on RX and it cuts off motors.
What type of RX did you install on CJMCU? How do you power up RX? Directly from Lipo or from the cjmcu board.

Please throw some more information Smile

I need to check the PWM rate, think it's the default.  I forgot to mention I got no motor response at all from the latest version of cleanflight - was about to send the boards back as having bad FETs but then tried an older version of cleanflight and they worked!

All motors cut out at the same time (drops straight no spinning etc).  RX is on OrangeRX DSM satellite powered via the regulated 3.3v feed on the board.  Guess I could set the failsafe to more or less hover to check whether it's going to failsafe mode.

[EDIT]
motor_pwm_rate = 16000

I would try 3.3V step up coverter for your dsm RX.
I'm using 5V stepup converter for Tiny Frsky
https://banggood.app.link/i2YHYInAuy and it works nicy.
Previously I have been using VD5M which accept3.3V directly from the board but unfortunately I had brownouts as well until I mounted stepup converter.

Since then no brownouts on CJMCU anymore :-)

Yep I think that's my problem; I just hovered around for quite a while after setting the failsafe to land mode and 1400 throttle.  Then after a few mins gave the throttle a small blip to then have the quad jump up to the ceiling - guess 1400 is too high!

I'm not sure it's worth the effort messing around with this anymore.  I have a tinywhoop in the post which is going to be better for indoor flying - that was originally my intent for the CJMCU.  The QX95 is great outside in the garden with no issues like this.  Perhaps I'll 3D print a frame to use these motors sometime
