choosing the first budget FPV setup.. help
#1
Hi,
I don't know much about FPV setup but I was wondering if I can have some help buying a FPV setup . I ran through every FPV product in HobbyKing and don't know what to choose due to negative and positive comments in products. I was thinking of 5.8GHz  200mwW Tx and Rx with a polarised antena. I'm also thinking about using my Ipad as the screen (may be a adaptor to connect the ipad and the receiver?)  As for my budget, somewhere around £50 £60 would be great. Smile

What I put together so far

+ power will be taken from a 3s...

RC 832 will be good for a starting vrx
Video displayed on ipad will have a bit of lag, so either prepare for that or get one of those screens: http://www.banggood.com/Blue-Sky-5-Inch-...mds=search I believe I've seen one without the case, the screen itself, but cant find it now.

How about the camera? I checked and it seems good in reviews. Also I'm not sure what battery to buy with a connector that matches the camera. help me with that too please.
The display will need a battery too? as it need main power.

Camera connector *schould be* supplied with the camera. As for the display, it should feed from a 3s directly (same as the RX), so you'll just need to solder the same connector that comes with your battery - XT60 is the most popular.

Color is irrelevant, as soon as they are meant for the same purpose. I believe, that the screen accepts 2 separate video inputs, I just use white (quanum goggles use the same screen)

hey dude,
Don't use ipad controls/video. It's crap and as konrad has said, lags. It's ridiculously difficult to control if there's even 1second lag.
I've also got the same display konradS linked. You might need to order some extra 2.5mm jacks for power output connection (for that particular display) and solder them yourself with XT60 connectors , or Deans connectors or w/e the hell they're called. I power mine off a 3S, along with the video receiver. It doesn't draw a lot of power so you can get away with using a lower capacity LiPo for that end.

I'm not sure what you're using the BEC for exactly. Do you have a wiring diagram done?
I personally just got an all in one http://www.banggood.com/Realacc-HUBOSD-E...68098.html
It costs more but I have less components to worry about mounting on. There's other variants out there. Just browse around.
Pay attention to the maximum current (A) it can supply.

I was going to use the BEC for the camera itself. As I might power it through a s3. I heard that the camera pack need a 1s lipo? am I right?
I could just plug the receiver and monitor to same 3s lipo? if so i don't need a bec for it then.
I didn't do a wiring diagram yet.

That camera you linked takes 2.5V-5.5V
A 1S LiPo gives 3.7V so it should be fine. That all-in-one board does spit out 5V however so you could still do the same thing and save space. The camera doesn't explicitly need "1S". You can stick two AA batteries and it will power it on as well.
