Chargers, Power Supplies and headaches/wallet aches
#1
OK so my Radiolink CB86-Plus is slowing me down a LOT now that I am actually wanting to fly more. I am researching around for good chargers and found two that are probably what I am going to decide between.

The first is the iCharger 306B. the second, and one I am leaning most to is the FMA PowerLab 6. Both have great features but I think the Powerlab 6 is the best option.

Now looking around for the ever important Power Supply I am shocked by the prices out there. I believe I am going to go with two of the 2Z0 RC 575W Modular RC Power Supply 12v/47A in series configuration so I get 24V/47A as the Powerlab is limited to 50A input. The price at $59,99 each is better than anything else I have found. It is too bad that I can't get access to some server power supplies here in my Data Center, ut that is a no-no. So I have to purchase some somewhere and I like what these are capable of out of the box.

I am going to try a Poll and see if it works. Please tell me which Charger you would go with in the poll. If it is "other" please let me know why? If you know af any good 24V/50A power supplies or better at a great price I would appreciate that input also.

Ok let's try the "Poll" option

I voted for the "Other", and here is why.

Given budget is a prime reason for any purchase and I am mindful of that, I will however advise at least looking at the following charger.

I have had one of these for the last 4 years and charges everything from my 6S 5000mAh to 1000mAh 3s, can be used at home off AC, or out in the field off DC, your car battery.

It can charge 4 lipo's at once and can be 4S, 6S, mix and match as you please.

While a bit pricey it really is a nice one stop shop, no need for a PSU as it has one built in, but does offer you the option to use a DC supply should you wish.

From a personal viewpoint and having used one I can highly recommend it.

I only charge at 1C, 2C in the field at times, so roughly for 4 x 1300mAh 4S 65C about 70 minutes.

Thanks BigglesFPV! I appreciate the information. I'll keep it under consideration. I don't see ever going over 1C myself, but I have to consider how many "parallel" I'll be charging. I want to be able to do 6 or more at 1C as right now I can do up to 8 on my Radiolink CB86-Plus, but it is fickle at best. Works but takes hours and hours. I want to spend less time charging. That is why I narrowed down to two above as they both will do high wattage, but need power to get them there. Thereby necessity of buying a powerful power supply additionally.

70 minutes is better than what I have now using only balance plug charging.

I also like being able to drill down if I want into the health of my batteries. Both of the ones above do that, and look like they will last years for me, as does your 200 Watt unit. I am looking forward to what others will input.

You are either a night worker like myself or in a part of the world that is daylight when I am in the dark eh BigglesFPV?

I have a dual battery system in my 4wd, so can easily charge all day no problems. Can run my 4 port DC charger.  :-)
