Changing flight controller
#1
Hey guys

I'm fairly new to quads, built my first one this year. Then rebuilt it twice more Big Grin

I currently use a flip32 and only fly in horizon. I'm not confident enough for acro and I don't race. I mostly cruise around the neighborhood and fly the quad pretty hard around my property.

I'd like to switch to a new fc as cleanflight acts weird on my flip32. I've been using base flight in order just to get it to arm. With cleanflight the quad thinks it's yawing and won't arm.

I'm not interested in beta flight unless I can fly horizon.

I use a dx6i with a spm4648 rx. Currently my flip32 allows me to just plug and play with this rx. I'm looking for a f3 fc with the same functionality that works with cleanflight. Or beta flight of it allows for horizon. I heard beta flight had issue in the past with anything but acro.

Hey man,
I have only been flying about 5 months. Started out on the Naze32 Rev5 in Cleanflight. I'm currently using a Flip32 with Betaflight and it works fantastically.
I normally fly in Acro mode when doing FPV, but I have a switch for Horizon mode because that's all I fly when doing LOS and it works great.

Betaflight defaults fly so much better than it did on Cleanflight. You should have 0 problem flying Horizon with Betaflight. Also, you can always save your current settings for Cleanflight then just go try out Betaflight. If you don't like it, switch back.

Good point, I put my quad in to the side of the house last week and the fc is not responsive. I have a new flip32 in the mail box right now (went with the same one as I could not decide on a f3) I'll give beta flight a shot tonight. I figure with not racing I won't really see a benefit from using a f3 controller.

Got beta flight installed. Only flew LOS since it's dark out. It's super snappy. I had to turn the rates down, not sure I can fly it lol. Have to wait till I can fly fpv.

I've had good luck so far. I get some oscillations, I need to try and tune them out. I never had to change much when I used base flight. Guess I'll have to learn more about black box.

I've done all tuning through the goggles . My actual first use of blackbox was yesterday . It is a really cool feature .

I'm sending the flip 32 back, I really think the gyro is messed up, no matter what I change it oscillates, even in acro. The mag seems jacked up too. In cleanflight and Betaflight the heading is constantly moving back and forth as if I'm yawing. Yet the quad is still still. Prevents me from even arming.

K24cl9, have you tried mounting the FC on rubber o-rings? I know that there were people who had that issue on the Naze32 Rev6 and rubber o-rings completely solved the problem for them.

Rubber rings shouldn't matter if the motors aren't even moving.
