Aaron, what FC did you get? I tried to build this too and I can only connect to the FC with the old cleanflight version. Also, mine looks like garbage compared to yours. Nice job.

Nice job. 08-Jun-2017, 09:45 PM I'm using an SPRacing F3 EVO clone that I bought from www.myrcmart.com First thing I did when it arrived was plug in with USB (with nothing else connected) and flash to the latest Cleanflight and do a 24 hour heat run on the bench. 09-Jun-2017, 11:39 AM (08-Jun-2017, 09:45 PM)Aaron Wrote: I'm using an SPRacing F3 EVO clone that I bought from www.myrcmart.com Talk about thorough! Doesn't matter if it's your first or 50th build knowing that your flight controller powered up and communicated over USB takes out a lot of guesswork. Do the same with every part you can before you start linking stuff together in one big single effort! 09-Jun-2017, 12:35 PM (09-Jun-2017, 12:31 PM)Aaron Wrote: Bench test everything would be my number 1 top tip to any builder. It's got to be good quality control though! carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 15-Jun-2017, 08:32 AM (09-Jun-2017, 12:31 PM)Aaron Wrote: Bench test everything would be my number 1 top tip to any builder. Maybe the whole settings page. Not to just use them, but to compare and spot any really big differences. I finally got lucky and updated the firmware so now I'm using the latest cleanflight and I have a lot more settings to play with. Honestly, this UAVFeatures build hasn't been great. I should have followed a tutorial that goes into way more detail. Battery and receiver included. I don't recommend this one to any pilots who've never build anything before. It might just be me. I don't know 15-Jun-2017, 10:39 AM (15-Jun-2017, 08:32 AM)laziegoblin Wrote: I wouldn't know how to bench test everything.. you know what... this is a really good point. I wouldn't recommend a first timer who hasn't been engaged to follow this either. I would say you probably should at least have been flying something before... and ARF, toy, or micro like a tinywhoop. Have had a chance to internalize and understand the different elements of a quad that you own.... The reason being... even as instructed in the video... these quads are actually ARF quads as built... the fact that he doesn't deal with the receiver at all shows that he's not thinking about the completely new person when he's building these. With that though... I would definitely say that someone with that little bit of experience who hasn't dived into an actual build yet and needs that push to get going it's perfect. I watched the video during a business trip in a hotel one night and on the flight home I was connected to southwest's internet browsing and buying on banggood. It was exactly what I needed to get me building. At the time though, I had already been participating in this forum for 3 months give or take. So I had learned a lot beforehand. Now as I start to help others in threads I am locking in the knowledge and learning even more! Keep at it Lazie... you'll get that thing flying the way you want it to! carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 15-Jun-2017, 11:02 AM Lazie, I haven't flown mine yet at all - it's middle of winter here (and I'm in the cold miserable zone of Australia) so I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark.... yay fornwork. Agreed though - it's a great first build but NOT a great first drone ever. 15-Jun-2017, 01:14 PM I think that video is more aimed to answer that question we always here "how cheap can I get/build one for?" lol Also I like how Aaron has done such a great job walking everyone through his personalized version. I havent followed along with the entire thread, but I hope when you get airborne Aaron you've worked some of those kinks out 16-Jun-2017, 01:15 PM (This post was last modified: 16-Jun-2017, 02:32 PM by laziegoblin.) I'll get there at some point though. I've got a strip with LED's and a buzzer from my nighthawk (currently with busted FC) Was wondering where I could connect it to this build. It has a 4 pin connector. so it fits into any of the slots around the mini USB port. http://seriouslypro.com/files/SPRacingF3...latest.pdf Do I plug it into uart2? And do I need to change something in the settings? https://gyazo.com/0104d752d4e4229406319d6cd3512050 17-Jun-2017, 12:24 AM It shows quite clearly where you should connect a buzzer and the signal for a LED strip in the manual you linked to. You don't plug it into a UART!! The plug is quite useless with this flight controller. 17-Jun-2017, 12:39 AM (17-Jun-2017, 12:24 AM)unseen Wrote: It shows quite clearly where you should connect a buzzer and the signal for a LED strip in the manual you linked to.Yeah ok. I'm not looking to remove the plug. Otherwise it won't work on the other build. 24-Jun-2017, 04:35 AM Success! Hover test complete. Able to take off and have controlled hover inside the house! Given the clarification of "rules" here in Australia around flying FPV I may simply sell this on... 24-Jun-2017, 10:52 AM (24-Jun-2017, 04:35 AM)Aaron Wrote: Success! after all of that? (paraphrase quote... sorry... nerd who grew up in the 80's problems) Are the rules that bad in Australia? that's really horrible if you can't even fly. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 24-Jun-2017, 11:04 AM The only way to deal with excessive and overbearing rules is by mass disobedience. The way things have been going in Aus over the last decade with an ever expanding nanny state and increasingly authoritarian, elitist politicians who have no respect for the governed, I'd say it was time that the Aussies put down their Fosters and started kicking up a stink! |
