13 24-Jun-2017, 12:32 PM (This post was last modified: 24-Jun-2017, 12:55 PM by Aaron.) The rules down here for LOS flying are actually very sensible and the governing body has a great app with all the airspace restrictions etc overlaid.
BUT
Their latest bulletin talks about FPV flying and to paraphrase it:
Can't fly FPV wearing goggles unless part of club that is registered.
Can't fly in public spaces FPV even with a spotter (they used to just apply the same rules as regular LOS but you needed a spotter)
As I don't really have the enthusiasm to join a club (time constraints mainly) and racing was never something I had wanted to do it's just as easy to sell up my only FPV build and build a nice camera bus with the proceeds.
I will add that I have no problems with the clubs here, my "local" club has a great field (and a $200+ annual membership fee) but also I'd need to cut over to Australian market sources radio gear with the correct certification markings that my world market Flysky gear doesn't - its compliant but not marked as such.
So to fly FPV will cost me somewhere in the order of $500 or more and I can only do it in 1 or two places in my region, and at times dictated by the club/s and fields.

13 You're right Scotty, I can use a screen for FPV and "maintain" LOS. So it is an option. I am looking forward to trying out this build in the park tomorrow ?

13 Flies really nicely, although I do like my aids and Altitude Hold was a bit of a bunny hopping farce. Have bent a prop and a landing foot but so far very happy.

Hey Aaron, have you checked the small print of the legislation? They say the same here in SA, that flying FPV, even with a spotter is illegal, however the use of 'toys' is unrestricted... I had a long conversation with a post grad professor of aviation law who said that while someone may call their Ferrari a toy, it wasn't specifically designed for use by children. If you look closely, almost all the listings in the 'toys and hobbies' section on BG state 'Not to be used by children under the age of 14' which makes these products 'toys' that are specifically designed for children over the age of 13...
Consider the super tiny mico FPV quads, like the Cheerson CX10W... I know the police in Aus are pretty serious, but come on?!
Windless fields and smokeless builds

0 Really clean build! You make me want to rip nine apart and re do it haha. I thought when I rebuilt mine since I cracked my first frame it was much cleaner...then I saw this today and cried a little. Keep up the good work man. Also find a way to fly fpv it's so worth it imo.

13 Thanks Phoenix, every time I pick it up I get a little "proud dad" moment as the build really came up so nice.
I accidentally blew away all the configuration while updating Cleanflight so will have to finish another complete round of setup before flying it again. Out of the box it only really needed the Altitude Hold PIC settings tinkered with as it was bunny-hopping. Obviously not a huge impairment if flying out of that mode!

0 Please help me!
I am building the UAVfutures quad. I am using the upgrade VTX, FC, and upgraded Camera.
As far as I'm aware, I've connected everything good, following the video closely! When I plug my battery in, the red light flshes and then blue light is static. I have successfully bound my receiver and radio. I have set up controls. But when I go to Arm my motors, nothing happens, and my throttlendoesnt work either. Also, I cannot connect to betaflight?! Please help me!!!!

0 You have to connect to betaflight to set up your arm switch before you can fly. What happens when you try to connect to betaflight?
P.s. you should probably start a new thread for this one.

13 Well I sold this today. Wasn't getting flown and as I pointed out earlier in the thread that flying FPV around here isn't as legal or "do what you want" as it needs be.
