Looking good!

Where's the receiver antenna?

Its a great feeling isn't it?  Heart

Last minute advice that Unseen gave me that I am glad to have had and would like to pass along: If you haven't made a smoke stopper yet, it could be helpful to protect you on that first power up if anything went wrong.

Looks great kaitylynn! How did you mount that camera? (I've got a couple of those, and designed a 3D printed mount in a much smaller quad - just curious how you did it.)

The camera has the two screws that hold the rear cover on.  Those holes seemed to align pretty well, so backed one screw out completely and unscrewed the other to use as a sort of guide.

There was a camera plate that was supplied with the frame kit, but you could cut, drill and tap any plate.

With a tool, it is possible to manipulate the mode switch.  Solid mounting feels a bit weird, considering that the camera will be the first thing to find any impact point.  Have considered building a foam mount.

I mounted mine opposite to yours, ie with the body of the camera behind the panel and the lens protruding - same camera.

The lens only slightly protrudes - wil get pics tonight...

Nice! Was looking at the camera body and noted that the holes go through the entire depth of the body. Look forward to your pictures of your solution.

welcome to the beginners club Smile

i'm worried that your cam will last exactly 1 crash.. maybe you should put it behind front protection plate or order something like this

Hello pips, thank you for the info! I just added that holder to my wishlist as they are currently restocking them. After attaching the camera, felt the camera is a little exposed and needed a better positioning. I have started to trim out a piece of foam to use as the mount to test with, but as I am still in waiting on the charger...that might be a few weeks.

I'll put a pic of mine up this weekend at the latest - with it mounted behind the plate it barely protrudes but I would also consider that in a "bad" impact it's still going to suffer.

So, I have come to feel that shifting my radio from FlySky to FrSky will be a good move. I was playing with a friend's Taranis Q x7 and fell in love! It feels a lot 'smoother' in my hands. I have ordered one and will relegate the FlySky to flying my Micro Quad around the house.

This leaves me looking at receivers again for the Zippy 210 (we have yet to name it). The FS-i6B is now on the table next to the unit. I cannot be the only flyer that uses a Taranis receiver...any thoughts of an appropriate Rx, FrSky based?

I've been using the XSR lately. GetFPV has a great deal on them @ about 15 bucks but they went out of stock pretty quick when they did that because everyone probably did what I did and stocked up. I've also used the X4R and X4RSB. In general all 3 of these receivers have worked fine for me. The only thing that I would point out is that the X4R (The white one) doesn't do sbus without some sort of hack that you have to do. It isn't any cheaper than the X4RSB anyway usually.

here is the XSR on Amazon also cheaper from Banggood if you order from china warehouse
And the X4RSB (The black one) on Amazon and Banggood (kinda pricey on both)

(Note, all 3 receivers will work with the QX7)

If you want all the cool telemetry features, the FrSky XSR is a great receiver, as is the X4RSB.

If space is at a premium, then the FrSky XM+ is a good option but it doesn't have telemetry.

I always forget about the XM+ That one is cheaper and even smaller than the XSR which can be helpful if you need the space.

I was also quite impressed with this little FrSky Micro D8 receiver from Banggood: link

Very small, SBUS output and has telemetry as well (although not smartport telemetry).

The really nice thing is that you can just connect battery voltage (up to 3S) to the A2 input and use that to trigger a battery low alarm on your radio. Just perfect for micro builds where you don't have room for a buzzer!

Space is not too much an issue on the frame I selected. The main stack fits forward leaving enough room for a fully encased Rx, so one sans case would be perfect and would rest below the VTx in the aft section.
