Building the best Freestyle quad

No, I had to change it.  The original wasen't long enough to allow me to position it the way it needed to be positioned.  I got mine here - http://www.rccrazed.com/fpv-gear-parts-f...p-342.html

Too bad I live in the UK so I can't buy from that website... Sad
So apparently you can fit the tramp but you have to modify it... I might go with the unify then but as far as I know you have to modify the pigtail too because the connector doesn't fit in the back plate, is that correct?

All you have to do is cut one of the ears off the connector so it doesn't interfere with screwing the top plate down.  That part should not be hard to find.  The link I posted is just where I got it.  I feel sure it's available somewhere in  the UK.

It should be an IPEX to SMA. You can get this anywhere. I just buy a bunch from Banggood or some other website to have on hand.

Ok I ordered the rest of the components, the tramp seems to be actually smaller than the unify pro so I think I will stick with that, I'm moving house at the moment and it's a real pain, I'll start the build as soon as I'm settled. Thank you for your advices, I'll let you know how it goes Smile

Btw the tramp HV fits in there, you just need to move the pigtail so that it goes on the side rather than pointing straight from the back.

Crossfire micro arriving tomorrow (I decided to go for that instead in the end), hopefully everything is going to work  Confused

You installed your rear support 180 degrees around from mine and thats fine.  However, you mounted the Tramp component side down.  That and the reversed support allowed you to use the supplied pigtail.  The only thing there that would concern me is mounting the Tramp component side down.  There is a hole in the bottom of the frame there that kind of exposes them to debris, moisture (wet grass) and other undesirable stuff.  Of course it may help with cooling a bit...these things get pretty hot.  Just food for thought.  The other thing I noticed....your battery led is coming up between the camera cage and the top plate.  Once the top plate is in it'll be subject to chaffing and getting pinched maybe?  You don't want the insulation to get rubbed to the point that positive lead is coming in contact with the carbon fiber...bad things would happen.

These are just a few of my observations.  Looks like you're well on your way!

Thank you Sirdude for your feedback!

I'll see if I can mount the trump upside down but I don't think it'd work, there is a piece of tape to cover it on the other side anyways ^ ^.

Regarding the power lead: I've explored various solutions and I really don't like the ones where the power lead exits on the sides as the cable in one way or another always gets too close to the props. That left me with two solutions: From the back and from behind the camera cage. I don't like it exiting from the back because of the limited space I have in that area so I decided to go from behind the camera cage. The space between the camera cage and the top plate is wide enough for the cable to sit comfortably without being pinched and you can actually push it down or up without friction to match the length of the lead coming from the battery. Yes, the portion of the cable next to the top plate will suffer from stress during a crash but at the same time I'd rather have stress there than the solder joint. If I notice some damage I might consider putting some rubber around the edge as there's plenty of space left to do that.

Put some heat shrink around the battery leads where they are in contact with the frame.

Vibration will make the carbon fibre cut through the silicone insulation on the battery leads like a hot knife through butter.
