388 I wonder if this is how soft mount came about.

45 Kinda makes you wonder how important soft mounting really is. I know personally where I've not been able to perceive any difference between soft-mounted and standard nylon standoffs.

74 Wow! Gives me new respect for the Martian frame! It held up even when the isolated inner stack didn't!

72 This also says a lot about how it's better to use nylon standoffs than to mount the flight controller with metal screws.
If the stress caused during the crash was enough to shear the nylon screws, imagine what the flight controller would suffer if it was mounted on metal screws!

The "Law of Unintended Consequence" comes in to play. I would rather replace a few 4 cent pieces of nylon than a $100 stack. For that, I have found some standoffs designed to offer vibration dampening. They are brass/aluminum fittings in hard"ish" rubber, allowing some shock absorption and give in a crash event. They seem tough enough to withstand more abuse than the nylon type. I need to crash to test my feelings, so please forgive if I take my time getting the information posted

Err, no! Please, at your earliest convenience, go out and smash your beloved Kai-Te into the nearest solid object, I guess tree trunks will suffice, if you can't find any brick walls!?
