Bought the wrong receiver
#1
So I was poking around online and realized somehow that I bought the wrong receiver entirely... I got a FrSky X4R (the white one) thinking... "this looks right to me" and the documentation of what I am putting it in said its compatible... So sure it'll work but I am almost certain I should have got the X4R-SB (the black one) or the X8R... While I've seen articles that say I can do something or another to get the white receiver to do SBus I think all in all it's going to come up at least one channel short. Then I think... "why do I need channel 5? I don't even know how to fly in horizon or self leveling modes"

The plight of the ignorant noob is upon me lol... I feel like I just bought a muffler for a Miata when I meant it for an RX7

Does anyone here fly the X4R and can they tell me if I am maybe overreacting to my assumptions that I may have issues with it not being enough of a receiver to do the job?

Of course I know that it'll do the job of 4 channels... at least that part i am OK about... It'd be nice if I had a 5th but maybe I can get over that (I should have known better than to buy something with the number 4 in it's name). It says it has telemetry but since I haven't had a chance to get in the air yet I am not sure what I'd want out of telemetry yet other than a feel for battery life such as voltage if it can send that back to me (might be on the OSD though so I could be OK with that already)...

It is simple to convert an x4r to an x4r-sb. You just have to remove a resistor and put it somewhere else. I don't know which one unfortunately

it is... and wow that's a tight spot. It might be more than I can handle with soldering... but I might try it anyway and replace it if it doesn't work.
