This is some great work by JazzyMac and it looks like it has effectively killed JESC. This should mean native RPM filtering on BLHeli_S without requiring the paid-for JESC plug-in.

I read the mini  Poop storm on RCG prior to JazzyMac's bi-directional DSHOT code being merged into BLHeli_S 16.72. There have been no further posts from Joe since that happened but I bet he's pissed.

Merry Christmas to one and all too Big Grin

I've got some sympathy for the JESC guy, since the whole bidirection thing is mostly his baby - concept and implementation - and he absolutely has the right to make some money on it. Yeah, the BLHeli_S GPL thing is ... knotty, but I don't think he should be burned at the stake like some people seem to.

That said, if your business model is "hope no-one from this notoriously OS-rich environment does their own implementation" then you're probably setting yourself up for disappointment.

I saw his fork a few days ago and was really waiting for this to happen. We have it sooner than I expected! Good find!
Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car

16.72 hex files are out.  I did not get a chance to see if it was merge.

Great!
I actually bought JESC licenses for a couple of my quads. Regardless of all the GLP thing, I was ok to pay him for the work, and the price was not excessive in my opinion.

sskaug merged the code changes into the main trunk yesterday. So this change is now part of an official BLHeli_S release.

I believe you need to buy a license for each ESC. I am not quite sure what happens if you have multi of the same ESC.

You need to buy 4 licenses for each quad (i.e. 1 for each ESC regardless  of whether they are 4 in 1 or individual ESCs). They are not transferable.

Just to clarify on the last part, Mark Spatz from UAV Tech stated in one of his videos that you can transfer JESC licenses to different ESCs. By that, I take it to mean that you can un-license an ESC that has previously been licensed with JESC which then puts that JESC license back into your pool of unused purchased licenses. Then you can assign that license to a different ESC. Obviously it means that the ESC you unlicensed to do that can no longer run RPM filtering.
