Bi Directional Dshot
#1
So I'm new with tiny whoops.. Does Tiny Whoops need to enable Bidriectional Dshot?  Any gain performance by enabling it?
I do on all my 5" and 7" quads. Since im new in this whoops realm, just wanted to know.

I wouldn't say "need". I have not enabled it on mine. I like the way it flies stock so in my case: If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

You need it if you want rpm filtering, which is an efficient way to crush motor noise. Why would you not enable it if it's available on your esc?

The problem with RPM filtering on tiny whoops is that the motor noise is usually at very high frequency (>800Hz) due to the small props running at high RPM. Depending on the build, you can get higher performance just running a LPF with a dynamic notch filter, and disabling RPM filtering. The additional CPU usage required for bidirectional DShot and RPM filtering can be an issue on F411 FCs that are common in whoops as well. Quad66 has done a lot of experimenting with this if you read some of his posts or check out his videos.

That said, if you're not racing or trying to squeeze every last bit of performance out of a build, I'd just enable RPM filtering and be done with it Smile
