0 Newbie and bit clueless. Decade away from flying UAS.
Picked up the BetaFPV Aquila beginners kit to regain some stick skills. ELRS 3.0 FC and toy controller. Their BetaFPV not Betaflight configuration baked onto the FC board. Considering the RadioMaster Pocket ELRS model Tx for future quads. The BetaFPV LiteRadio2 controller is ok, but not what I prefer. Gimbals feel too stiff and a bit "lifeless". Wondering if is possible to fly the Aquila with the Pocket, set modes and speed option to couple 3 way switches given the proprietary BetaFPV configuration. Receiver is a serial ELRS 3.0. But assuming I cannot use Betaflight Configurator to set up the Aquila.

41 Honestly can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to. You won't be able to map it like betaflight, but what you can do is build a new model to accommodate it in EdgeTX. First, bind it to the pocket. Then find which button on your Pocket arms it, which one changes modes/speed and make sure the sticks work like they should do (control map). I'm sure last time I played with BetaFPV Configurator you could still bind a different radio and configure it, because the Cetus uses the same configurator and can use any radio you want. The main thing is to get the sticks working correctly. Arm on ELRS is always on AUX5, so you can map any switch to AUX5 in EdgeTX. Same goes for modes and speed. They will probably be on the 3 way switches. Guessing buzzer will be on something else.

0 Thanks for the info. Hope was that with Open/EdgeTx and ELRS there would be flexibility to fly any ELRS rx equipped UAS with the Pocket.

41 You can bind any radio with the Cetus and at the base level, ELRS works the same way for any Radio. Edge/OpenTX allows configuration of switches and sticks as you prefer. So you should be able to create a custom model that does what you need.
The bigger learning lesson, is never buy another Aquila. A Meteor75 would have done you well, just as much as the Aquila and the batteries cost a lot less. Still I look forward to your flight videos of it. I know of no one with one and no one that would consider buying one.

Aquila purchase was primarily purchased for indoors flying during the winter months and to regain stick skills. Aware of the shortcoming and strengths. M mode flying issues, real low quality camera. Any 1s with a BT2.0 connector or adapter will work. The 1100mAh battery and longer flight times are a positive. 8 minutes real flight times in N mode and slow speed very gentle indoors. Bit tired of replacing 1s brushed motor micro quad motors and the short 3-5 minute LOS flight times. The battery prices were not that bad at ~$7.50 each. Have paid ~$5-6 for 150-550mAh 1s Glacier, Hyperion,Spektrum. Hindsight, the Meteor85 probably would have been the better option.
Prior life didn't fly anything smaller than 250 sized 2-3s quad outdoors. Need the mass and power to fly in any wind. Aquila with my marginal skills is limited to just a light breeze. Plan is to eventually acquire a 25 or 30 quad. Not really into video capture. More into free flying. Right now leaning towards the Geprc Cinebot 30 6s analog. But might still purchase the M85 while I wait to decide on which larger quad to purchase.

41 Ahh the second you mention 6S, you are far beyond my skill level.
Most i currently fly is 2-3" on 2-4S.
