Betaflight questions
#1
My betaflight is saying that my 14.7v battery is a 16.8v battery. How do I change this? And more importantly how did it change when it did say 14.7 at one point and now doesn't.

Is the pack fully charged now? And wasn't before? Because 16.8V is what you should see if you're fully charged. A charged lipo is 4.2V per cell, so 16.8V is right for a 4S pack. If the pack is at storage voltage then it'll be around 3.7V per cell which is about what you saw before.

If that charge on the battery is the same and the voltage numbers are definitely off (check them with a battery checker or your charger), then it will be a matter of voltage scaling in Betaflight. Have a look at this page (https://github.com/betaflight/betaflight...Battery.md) and especially the part on vbat_scale.

The ground is for dead people.

Thanks for letting me know. It confused me and I didn't want to risk the battery going pooft on me

Glad to help!

As a general rule the voltage on the lipo will drop as it's discharged, so for 4S it'll start at 16.8V, and then gradually drop down as you fly it. Start to think about coming in to land around 14.5V, as if you run the battery too low it will shorten the file of the lipo, and potentially kill it completely.

https://oscarliang.com/lipo-battery-guide/#cell-count

That's the section on cell count and nominal voltage, but read the whole thing - it's information that will keep your lipos living longer, and stop you burning your house down ;-)
