I have a strange issue when flashing betaflight 3.0 in bootloader mode and windows. I noticed that several others also got the same problem, and a friend of mine as well. so here it goes.

I got a SPracing clone which I am not able to flash in bootloader mode on my windows PC, but with my mac, it goes just fine. A friend of mine had the same problem with a SPRacing clone and a motolab F3, so I had to flash them for him with my mac. After this they connect just fine to the PC and I am able to flash them from my windows PC without bootloader mode enabled, but as soon as I enable bootloader mode, the PC will not flash them. I get this not able to talk to bootloader error. Do I need a set of extra drivers for the PC when the FC is in bootloader mode?

I have a similar issue. BF Configurator on my Windows Surface Pro and windows laptop may work 20% of the time to flash new firmware, everything else works fine.

On my Mac laptop in works first time every time. go figure.

So I do the firmware updates on my Mac and then making changes is fine on windows out in the field.

haha, I guess you are just as lazy as I am. If it works one place, why bother fixing it at the other? 

I would like to figure out why it is like that so I don't have to flash my friends FC's all the time

Yeah, and what is worse..I am a computer engineer..LMAO.  I just dont care with this though.  I am a MCP and a Apple Engineer, and have 3 Windows SBS servers, 12 windows laptops, 10 windows desktops, 14 Macs and numerous ipads and tablets.  So where ever possible if windows actually does work, I leave it be..LOL

I like it! That is why I like to have computers with windows, OSX and linux. If you can't get it to work on one, try the other

What setting is your baud rate ? I too have spr clone boards and can only flash on the slowest baud rate

I normally flash it at 256000 on both the pc and Mac. I can try lower the baud, but I thought that the spracing wanted 256000?

Same here. At home I use OSX, Linux, and when I have to Windows.
I was having trouble flashing a SpRacer clone on my Ubuntu laptop.  Plugged it into my Mac and it worked first time.

I had the same problem with my naze32 rev5. I had to download the .hex and use Cleanflight to install the new firmware. After that everything is good to go.

i had the same problem on a authentic SP Racing F3. a simple way around it is to download the target file from the betaflight github site and use the cleanflight configurator to flash it on a windows pc. then disconnect the board, close cleanflight, open betaflight and connect. just like Justyn said
