Best PDB for mini/micro quad
#1
I was wondering what would be the best PDB if you are interested in the following things:

- keeping the build clean and lightweight
- essential filters!
- integrated voltage regulators (5V,12V maybe adjustable?)
- integrated OSD?
- standard size (but i'm also interested in custom fittings for specific frames)
- price
- quality

Any recommendations? Smile

You might want to take a look at the Thug Frames PDB.

I don't think it covers everything you want but its still a great little board

Here is the info off their site.

Quote:36 x 36 power distribution board 100a/4s/3s/2s WITH integrated XT60 pre soldered plug
Includes
XT60 in / 4 x ESC connections / Two sets of aux pads (for voltage tolerant fpv kit etc??) with two pololu bays underneath for the choice to run 5 or 12 v feeds with pads now moved to the top of the board (pololu’s not included) . A nice neat and simple way to wire your minis, Reliably .

XT60 plug Included and pre fitted

This is quite a popular one. Cheap with an integrated buzzer and 5v feed.

Thats a nice looking PDB, but for me there are too few features.

The Matek actually is a really nice board, especially the new version v3 with 2 BECs (for 4S):

I like the buzzer option and the great quality. The only downside is that there is no Filter..or don't we need one with BECs? I thought a LC filter would be nice to have?

My current PDB is this one because of the LC-filter (but i really don't like those through-hole stuff):

In the future i would probably go for the Matek.

Just to give you a quick update:

I've found two interesting PDBs with 2 BECs, LC AND OSD included! Not sure about the quality..

http://www.banggood.com/MXK-Power-Distri...632012117U

https://flyinglemon.eu/glowna/25-lemoncore-pro-pdb.html

The LemonCore PRO PDB looks very convincing! However, I believe only the Banggood PDB works with MWOSD with easy access USB port (no more fiddling around with FTDI adapter) and the LemonCore uses their own OSD software (incl. current measurement!)

I'm really looking forward to find more PDBs with integrated components like this, it totally makes sense!

I'm using the PowerOSD Pro from QuadRevo,

It has filtered 10V out for cam and vtx, and 5V out for FC.  The OSD has the basics: Volts, milliamps used, time, low batt alarm, (and RSSI if you are so equipped).
Very nice all-in-one PDB.

Flying Lemon is quite good and popular.

I've been considerinf these 2:

http://www.unmannedtechshop.co.uk/oze32-...ller-acro/ (this has OSD)

http://genixrc.com/product/phoenix-pdb/ (no OSD)

Oscar told me EMAX is making an all-in-one FC, he should be posting his review on it soon.

I like the looks of that first one having it all wrapped into one board. very interesting!

I highly recommend the RROSD, http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2531709,

I used to have Quadrevo powerOSD on all my quads but the problem is the video is never quite as noise free and it get worse over time with more flight, until I came across the RROSD, it is so much better, the video signal is so much cleaner and the features are great, now I have RROSD on all my quads Smile

I like that FC/pdb combo. I was going to order it just because, even though I just bought a spf3 for my next build. What convinced me to get it was the 20% off coupon that pops up on their site. Unfortunately it says "coupon disabled". Too bad, for 34.00 it would be an easy impulse buy.

I am using the Matek 5-in-1: http://www.fpvmodel.com/matek-pdb-bec-5v...g1046.html

I have to say I don't like it and wish I bought another one. Reasons:

1. No built-in LC filters whatsoever. LC filters you can buy are too big for small quads and often have wimpy capacitors which LittleBees will damage over time. Plus they take space.
2. Only 5V OR 12V BEC, not both. You're going to leave it on the default (5V) for your FC if you have Opto ESCs like the LittleBees, so you now have no output for your FPV gear.
3. The built-in buzzer works on a servo channel, rather than the buzzer output from your FC. So if you're running X4R on SBus, which is the current best setup, the extra pins are channels 1-3 which are already taken by your Sbus. If anyone knows an easy way around this please tell me.
4. The built-in buzzer is thick enough that you need longer than usual standoffs to stack an FC on it. This caused problems with me on my 180 build.
5. The ESC pads are not in the corners so your wires are longer than they need to be = extra weight.
6. The LED pads take up space that ESC pads could, and I would just run LEDs off the main power anyway.

I would love that Thug PDB with the built-in XT60 if it has LC filters. For now this would be my choice for next build: http://www.dronematters.com/batteries/po...d-pro.html

Figures… right after I post, I read the solution to complaint #3: use an unused motor output from the FC, not the Rx. That might be a problem though because I am using pin headers and there is no space for more pins sticking out of the FC. I guess I could direct solder just that one…
